Nextar mn2707 firmware update

Need to update gps.. it doesn't work when i touch screen it freezes up

    i got the same problem. after updating the firmware it freezes up. it keep on giving me the "System Scanning" WINDOW.

    I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. TRIED TO UPGRADE US MAPS WITH DVD, AND SCREEN FROZE TO SYSTEM SCANNING PLEASE WAIT... CALLED NEXTAR, NOTHING WE CAN DO NO MORE GUARANTEE > ONE YEAR, SO SCRAT!!!

    Wow, I did the same tap on the bottom right hand of the screen, and boom, everything is fine (for the moment). I was about to throw it out after sitting idle for almost 3 years. Thanks sillyguy.

I had this problem too with the one I got from my sister. If you tap your finger in the lower right of the touch screen mine came back on. I think it resets the screen with commands that come back into the screen area. Try that and let me know. Dale.

Ditch it and buy another brand. These guys have very poor support.
they promised new maps. nothing.
they promised a fix for the Q: My MN2707 gets stuck on a screen that says "It is important that digital maps and PO", but the rest is cut off. NOTHING.
you call them and they say the fix is coming. They have abandoned us so I say don't give them another nickle.

'know what guys? nextar have a new program call "product exchange program". so, you can trade your old & non-working nextar gps to a new and much better one. :)

My Garmin Nuvi 660 touch screen is frozen. I've tried to reset it with the switch on the back. I've tried connecting it to my computer to reset it. Powering on and off don't work.
Sounds like your firmware needs updated. Just go to Garmin’s website then downloads and update your firmware. As long as there is no screen damage but just touch screen not working that will fix it. An easy test is to take out the battery and if the unit works for second then freezes you just need to update firmware. Turn off unit plug into computer via usb cable and do firmware update, that easy!!!! Hope that helps?

Map or firmware updates for Nextar X3-T GPS ???
You should probably just buy a Garmin.

If you did want to update the maps you need to find the software company that makes the map (usually IntelliNav or Odyssey) and then buy it from them and PRAY it works by loading the new map data directly on your SD card.

From experience, this makes your GPS crash a lot and make sure you back up your SD card before you even attempt this.

Touch screen stop working
Hello,
Omnitech GPS systems are very decent for me. I have 2.
There were several reports of GPS problems beginning on or about 11-14 June 2009. This is due to the GPS navigation messages rollover from 255 to 0. Some GPS systems fail to accommodate this behavior; Omnitech is one of them.
Staples did provide a firmware update a few days later. There are also other firmware updates available on the net. I personally successfully update the firmware and resolve the problem around June 15, 2009.
Otherwise, the problem should go away after 1-2 weeks.
