What is the file size for the Poulan Pro 42cc 18" saw? The user manual only says take it to a service center for sharpening. Hours of on line searching didn't give a result.

The chain needs sharpened or replaced. You can purchase the tools from any hardware store, and sharpen the chain yourself in about 15 minutes. Don't worry, your saw is just fine!

What file size do I need to sharpen chain

It realy depends on the type of chain you have fitted, hobby chain fitted to small home owner saws is normally a 3/8 low profile and requires a 5/32 file, slightly bigger machines have a .325 chain and require a 3/16 file, big machines have a standard 3/8 chain and require a 7/32 file, the correct file should fit nicly into the cutter and sit slightly abobe, this will stop you file under the cutter head and creating a hook.

New 18" Poulan Pro 42 cc saw, mixed up new gas

Don't use stabil. Use a modern synthetic saw oil (50:1 fuel to oil ratio) available at home centers, hardware stores, and saw dealers. Mix the oil and fuel in it's own container and be sure to shake the container thoroughly just before filling the tank each time to prevent oil starvation. If it becomes apparent that the carburetor adjustments are wrong, you will need to see your dealer for adjustment. Good luck!

I need to know how to route the gas lines on a poulan pro 210 i notice the two sizes of line and there are two hookups on the carb which goes where

This should help. Snap a photo then a small sample of each to your local chainsaw seller.
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3706813-2_cycle_fuel_system_repair

The link is a Poulan Pro 210 IPL.
The IPL (exploded parts list) for your saw is the only detail for fuel line routing and it is sketchy at best; components are listed but may be on different illustrations.
