What I would do is I would download a linux liveCD (Ubuntu is fine) for free and burn it on a CD or USB. When your system starts, press F12 and boot from the LiveCD and let it run and then see if your harddrive is still accessible. If it is then you have no hardware damage.

Maybe your problem is simpler than that and you just need to tap F12 continuously after you start the computer and select Boot from your DVD and do a system repair

Go to bios settings by pressing the F2 on start ..and engage the optimal factory defaults feature...confirm with enter Y=yes..and than F10 to save changes.. If the computer still asks for recovery than the operation system is damaged and your recovery disk is either not boot-able or it is just for drivers and do not have a operation system in it..to install ..so ..you will need a boot-able disk with the installer of the windows first and than use the recovery disk to install the software and drivers needed for devices..

Resizing the partitions has affected the partition size of the hidden recovery partition. This is why the recovery does not work.
You need to get a Recovery CD for your model LG laptop from the LG WEB site so you can restore your laptop.

Hi devil_ameet,

The issue may be with the Recovery Discs that you created. I would suggest that you try accessing the Recovery Partition in the Computer by pressing and holding the F10 Key while restarting the Computer. If you see a "Edit Boot Options" screen, please press the Enter Key. This would trigger the Computer to the VAIO Recovery Center which is present in the hidden partition of the Hard Drive. There, in the VAIO Recovery Center, please select the "Restore C: Drive" option to perform the Recovery.

If the Recovery Partition is not present in the Computer, the Recovery Discs are the only option to perform the Recovery. In that case, we can try resetting the BIOS to the default values, disconnecting the external Devices connected to the Computer and resetting the RAM Modules to troubleshoot the issue. Please let me know if you can access the Recovery Partition and perform the System Recovery.

Please let me know if you have any questions and require any further assistance.

Thanks for using FixYa.

To create a recovery partition in harddisk

Unfortunately the Recovery partition could not be reacreated manually. But you can recover it by using the Y410 Recovery Disc but that means reinstalling everything and youll end up with windows vista again. You can reinstall XP but do not delete the partition that usually has 10-15GB of space because that is the hidden partition for the recovery. You can call 18774536686. If your computer is out of warranty, it would only cost you 59$ for the recovery disc

How can you use the recovery disk in drive D ?

It is referring to using the recovery disk in the cd/dvd drive. When you purchased the computer it should have come with a set of recovery disks (some manufatureres do this by installing a recovery partition). If you did not get a set of recovery disks with this machine, you need to use the recovery partition.

Looks like your recovery cd is corrupted. You must obtain a copy of Ms Windows cd and install it using the license from the back of your laptop. If that doesn't work either its a hardware related (hdd) problem.

Your Model might be a different Button on the Keyboard so PLEASE check your User Guide/Manual for instruction.

How to recovery the system from recovery partition

Did you know you only get ONE shot at creating a recovery disc? And most of the time it is garbage, just like Vista.

He tried to put XP on it and failed? weird.

A couple things you can do...

1. Get your hands on a Vista disk. If you know anyone that works in IT, you can borrow a Vista disk. Do a complete fresh install. Use your "Product Key" and you will have your own Licensed, perfectly legal version of Vista.

2. Get yourself a copy of XP. Delete all partitions, then create a new one. Don't try to save that Vista recovery partition...it's toast. I recommend XP, but I'm a dinosaur.

If you know anyone that works in IT, you can borrow
