Question about Remington 16" Electric Chain Saw

Open Question

I have the 16" M30016AW Remington chainsaw. I am unable to adjust the chain tension properly. When I manually rotate the chain, at certain locations, the chain becomes very tight. If I continue to manually rotate the chain, the chain can come very loose. Is there something I am not doing correctly?

Have you replaced the chain or the bar? A chain of an incorrect pitch acts like this. There may also be burrs on the drive links (the part that fits in the bar groove).

This is an Oregon number if your bar is 16" pn 91VG058G, but kbsmiles is correct, Try a local saw seller first. Just take your existing chain for them to use as a pattern. HTH

SOURCE: MY tension screw nut that

The nut may be cracked, like mine is. While I am trying to get a new one, I found I can still tighten the blade by laying the saw with the blade securing nuts up. Loosen the two nuts 1/2 turn. There is a small hole in the bar right near the case. Use a small screw driver placed in the hole and pry against the case to force the bar out and tighten the chain. While prying out on the bar, tighten the two nuts.

I can't find a replacement saw blade for my remington M30016aw saw

Are you aware RemingtonPower is no longer in production (name purchased by MTD)? I am not certain whether you need a bar or chain so I provide both. I ask you retrace my steps to verify the part numbers I supply.
A link to an OM for your saw follows:
http://www.desatech.com/manuals/Chainsaws/model_m30016aw_manual_113005-01g.pdf
A parts listing is near the end of the manual. Items 2 (bar, pn EL16SB if 16" $22.99) and 3 (chain, 16SC if 16" $17.99) apply.
Both are available here:
PartsFor.com (authorized parts supplier)
http://www.partsfor.com/
Please use the phone and a credit card to protect yourself should problems arise; get the name of your service rep.

Please count the drive links (the part that fits in the bar groove) and verify there are 58 (16" chain).
You can likely take your existing chain to a local chainsaw seller/mechanic where it can be duplicated cheaper in about 5 minutes.

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. HTH & Good Luck.

How do you adjust chain tension? I have the 16" Remington electric chain saw, and the chain will not stay tight; it slips off the rear sprocket as soon as I try to use it. I don't feel everything is...

Here is a link to instructions for EL-8 series saws ... http://www.desatech.com/pdf/115499-01_EL8_Series_Chain_Saw_Tension_Adjustment.pdf. For series LNT-2, LNT-3,EL-1, and EL-7 according to the manufacturer... "WARNING: The cutting edges on the chain are sharp. Protective gloves should be used when touching the chain. Unplug the chain saw from the power supply. Allow chain to cool. Loosen the guide bar nuts until they are finger tight. Ensure the adjusting block is in the adjustment hole in the guide bar. Turn the chain tensioning screw clockwise to increase tension. Turn the chain tensioning screw counterclockwise to decrease tension. Check for proper chain adjustment by pulling down on the chain at the bottom center of the guide bar. You should see no more than a ⅛ inch gap between the chain cutting links and the guide bar. The guide (or drive) links should not come out of the guide bar grooves. The chain should rotate freely around the guide bar. If it does not, chain tension should be decreased. When the chain is properly adjusted, tighten the guide bar nuts securely." On the M series if your chain keeps slipping off your sprocket... The Sprocket cover tab (located on the round part of the sprocket cover) isn’t inserted into the saw body tab slot. I hope this helps you!

How do I attach the saw to the pole for a Remington M30016AW?

Remington did not make a pole for this saw and any pole that are out there cannot support the size and weight of the 16" chain saw you have.
