The power light of your router should go flashing once it's being reset. If it is not doing that you can try this reset.
Hold the reset button for 10 sec. while holding the reset button unplugged the power of the router, wait for another 10 sec (still holding the reset button in), plug the power back and wait for another 10 sec. and now reslease the power button.

If it still won't work you can also do a software reset with the latest version of this router, You go to the setup page and go to the administration tab and go to the sub tab that says factory defaults, just tick yes and do save settings.

Hope this one helps.

E3000 reset doesnt work

Did you try a 30-30-30 reset?
  1. Hold down the reset button for 30 seconds.
  2. Pull the power for 30 seconds whilst holding the reset button
  3. Plug in power and hold the reset button for another 30 seconds
(My finger usually hurts after holding that button for 1.5 minutes ;-) Look at your watch to not cut down on the time.

Let me know how that goes.

NEED SETUP WIZARD DOWNLOAD

You might not need the CD; try logging into 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0. If it's so whacko'd that you can't log in, you might try a hardware reset; look for the reset button on the back of the router. Hold it for 30 seconds. Power off the router (unplug power) while still holding that reset button for about 30 seconds. Power it back on, still holding that reset button for another 30 seconds. That should pound it back to the stone age. Then you can log into it (with a blank login field) and with the default password, "admin". From there you can change things if necessary. It should

Will not update

First thing to try is simply reboot the router. Unplug for 30 sec and retry. If that does not work make sure the update file is ok. try redownloading it and retrying. If that does not work do a back up of your settings and reset the defaults of the router.Try doing a 30/30/30 reboot. Press and hold the reset button for 30 secs, unplug the router for 30 seconds while still holding the reset button, plug the router back and keep holding the reset button for another 30 sec. This will reset the router to factory defaults all configurations made will be lost but you should be able to update it then.

My router does not seem to be working right; the power light is flashing very quickly and the signal is not being transmitted. how do i get my router to work again?

Press the reset button on the router. Hold it down for 30 seconds. release the reset button. Wait for 1 minute. unplug the power cable to the router and plug it back in.
Wait for 1 minute and check if the power light is Solid on the router.
If the power light on the router is flashing then the router is not working. Try to reset the router again. To press the reset button on the router use a paper clip or ball point pen.
If the power light is still flashing then try to reset the router again. If still the same thing then you will need to new router.

If the power light is sold then you can try to reconfigure the router.

IP Help

Hi,

You use following ways to reset router, after that you would be able to login to router

To Reset the newer SMC7004AWBR Router, use the RESET button on the Router. It is found on the rear panel (except 7004ABR/7008ABR, where it is found in the front). It's a small pinhole blue button. Use a paperclip / pen / pencil to hold in. Reset can be done in following ways. If you find Power LED blinking, then it indicates a successful RESET.

Procedure 1 -
Unplug all the cables except the power cord.
While the SMC7004AWBR is powered ON, Hold the RESET button for 30 seconds or as long as you find the Power LED blinks.

Procedure 2 -
1 - Unplug all the cables except the power cord.
2 - While the SMC7004AWBR is powered ON, Hold the RESET button for 5 seconds.
3- While holding the RESET, turn OFF the power to the Router.
4- Continue to hold it for 5 seconds, then turn ON the power to the Router.
5- Wait for another 5 seconds and then release the RESET button.

Procedure 3 -
1 - Unplug all the cables except the power cord and Power ON the Router.
2 - Hold the RESET button for 3 seconds.
3 - Release the RESET button for 2 seconds.
4 - Continue Steps 2 and 3 for Four more times.

After doing all this steps login to router
Hope it resolved your issue

Thanks for using Fixya

Did have dsl and now have cable modem, but router doesnt work with cable,, how do I reset?

unplug for 10 full seconds and plug it back in.

There is also a pin sized reset button on the back or bottom that you hold in for 5 seconds.
I prefer to just unplug the power cord for 10 seconds.

I cant remember my login or password. how do i reset these?

on the back there should be a little hole with reset above it, Get a paper clip or pin and push it in the hole and you will feel a button click in.

Kept it hold down for about 10 seconds and you should see the lights start flashing and your router is then reset. If it doesnt reset the first time, try holding the reset button in a bit longer.

Good Luck :D

I can't reset my cwr-854 router by pressing the RESET button for more than 1 minute and nthing happens , either in Power ON and OFF

You can reset this Wireless Access Point by clicking on Reset button, and then press OK button to confirm your decision.

Note: you can also hold down the reset button for more than 10 seconds to reset its default settings back to factory default.

If the reset doesnt work turn off router then on again first, but if the reset doesnt work, the router may need to be replaced.

Reset router

Howdy,

Please try the reset button again. Make sure the ROUTER IS POWERED ON and hold the reset button in for 40 seconds. Then unplug the power cord for 1 minute and then reconnect & restart. If that still does not work then:

Logon to router 192.168.1.254

You will be on Home Summary tab.

Go to Diagnostics tab and click on Reset Device button on right side.

This will accomplish the same as pressing the reset button.

Simply unplugging the power cord will not reset the device.

Good Luck,

J

In this case,we can do a power cycle of the router.steps to do a power cycle
1.unplug the router power adapter and then the modem power adapter if its a cable modem then we should also unscrew the coaxial cable wait for 10 sec and then screw it and now plug the modems adapter first wait fir lights to be stable and then the routers power adapter.now check the lights.
If power cycle doesnt resolve your issue then do a reset.restting a router is setting it to the factory setting so pls note the changes you have done in the netgear smart wizard page if any.
steps:
1.HARD RESET-you ll find a circular hole(reset button) at back panel of the router(see d chart on the router ).take a paper clip and press and hold for 30 secs and release it after 30 secs.
2.FUNNY RESET-If the previous step doesnt work, then we have do the funny reset. Here press and hold the reset button for 1 minute simultaneously plug and unplug the router 3 times.
Hope these steps solve your problem if not reply me and if this issue is solved pls rate me to improve my service.
