When I start up my Dell inspiron 1300 a message comes up which says "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system Please help wat do I do??????

If you have the laptop recovery disc, then using the disc reinstall the windows. If you do not have then use a boot-able CD and reinstall/repair windows. it seems some system file missing.

Try to go into safe mode and run a system restore on it to the last known date that you know the system was working properly.
