1) can gateway repair and upgrade my tablet pc even if it was built part for part outside of the company?

My guess is that they "can", but considering that this would not be a warranty repair, you'd probably end up paying WAY more than it's worth in labor and that's IF they'll even do it. They'll probably give you a hard time.
