Garmin Streetpilot c340 arrived dead (by 2 users)

My Garmin Streetpilot c340 arrived today (purchased on Amazon.com), and it wouldnt turn on. Called Garmin Tech Support, they told me to charge it for six hours. Doing it now. My question is, should this unit show a "charging" icon or something on the screen to show that it is actually charging? I'll know in about three hours from now. Was just wondering if someone could shed some information. Especially after reading numerous postings here about this units battery not charging. Thanks in advance.
