Yes, first--- NEVER buy a TASCO or BUSHNELL telescope. Most of them are not suitable for Astronomy.

The cost of fixing this scope will exceed its value and is not economical to do.

Instead buy a Dobsonian mounted reflector like this one.

and read this web site:

How do I remove the black paper disk like thing on the telescope lens?

That BLACK PAPER is there to cause the trap of light and dust and etc from the MIRROR and is held in place usally with adjustable locking screws to balance the reflective properties of the lens.

Just bought a Bushnell telescope 78-4501 - set it up as per the instructions. I can see objects light etc... through the object finder or view finder but I see nothing through the telescope not even...

This is not a real telescope, it is a toy. You will be lucky to see anything with the 20mm lens only. the rest are junk. The telescope needs to be collimated (see your manual) and the finder aligned with the telescope. Align the finder with the scope during the day, although this model was known for poor mounting on the finderscope and will become un-aligned easily.

Looking at the moon with the 50 or 100 magnification on my Vivitar Telescope all I see is a extremely small white dot. I have tried focusing back and forth very slowly to no avail. What is the problem and...

Well first thing is you bought a junk telescope. Vivitar, Bushnell, Tasco are all considered toy telescopes.

Sorry-- but it is the truth. Read my TIPS on my profile page. These scopes are NOT suitable for Astronomy. You would have been better buying a pair of 10x50mm binoculars which are almost the same lens size as this scope.

Put the eyepiece with the LOWEST number written on it into the scope. This is your highest magnification. Try the moon again with this eyepiece.

Do a RESET on the hand controller. Re-enter Time, Date, and SITE, and CALIBRATE motors.

Also sometimes a bad hand controller cable will cause this. You can buy another cable directly from Meade. Call them here:

Tasco telescope[46-114500]cannot see anything through lens.bought

THE protective cover is the FRONT of the telescope!!!

The focuser is on the front like the picture above. TURN the scope around -- you have it pointing at the ground right now!

Read my TIPS on my profile page. And read this and look at the pictures:

National Geographic NG70CA Telescope .... help with

Your small telescope will never get beyond about 100 power --- the maximum resolution is calculated as 50 times aperture under perfect conditions!

Use the eyepieces with the LARGEST numbers only and don't use the barlow.

Nikon D70, error "F..."

The most basic reason for getting the FEE message is that you're using a older series of lens that has an aperture ring on it (meaning you could manually change f-stops on the lens), regardless on most current Nikon cameras that ring needs to be set to f/22 or whatever the smallest aperture (largest number) the lens has.  Give that a try and if that doesn't do the trick it could just be dirty contacts either on the lens or inside the camera.  They can be cleaned with alcohol or contact cleaner and a q-tip.  Worst case scenario, you're lens has some internal problems.  I suspect that one of the first scenarios is most likely.
Hope this helps!
