Question about Porter Cable C2002 150 Psi 6 Gal Compressor

1 Answer

After filling the 6 gal tank with air, there is no air coming from the coupler valves, however, the pressure is reading correctly and the air release on the bottom of the tank and ring release below the shroud indicate sufficient air when released. I am just not getting air coming throught the 2 air valves into the hose. I drained all water and air and re filled and still no air coming from the couplers.

Be sure your regulator valve is turned in to your desired pressure. If so you have a blockage in your manifold or behind the couplings. Obviously you have to have a male coupling plugged into the female also.

Porter cable 6 gal pressure switch. safety valve blows when tank filling

Depending on the pressure in the tank when the safety valve releases, the problem is likely your pressure switch. If the pressure is at or above 160 psi when it blows, then the problem is the switch. If the pressure is lower, then it is likely a faulty safety valve. There are about 8 versions of this machine. check on dewalt service net for the correct part. you may need to check ebay if the part is nla thru dewalt.

Why does the safety valve go off before the pressure switch on a porter cable 80 gal air compressor

The maximum pressure on most small compressors is 10 bar or 1000kpa which is about 145 psi in the old language most safety valves are set to 150 psi. I suggest you get some one to reduce the pressure switch setting. Running a compressor at elevated pressures does not give you any more air. A reasonable pressure for small compressors is 120 psi

It appear the center value releases pressure on both values. Isn't it suppose to release the gun side only?

Hi consicouscon...

If the center valve (unloader) is working properly then it will release the pressure and vacuum from both valves and pistons.
If your problem is: Should it release the air pressure built up in the tank to the gun, then the answer is Yes.
It should not go both ways.
If it does then you have a problem you need to correct.

I fill the tank up, but it seems too light to be full, so I drain it and it only has about 1 gallon if that in it. Whats wrong?

How are you filling the tank, and is this in an RV or what? Open pressure relief valve when filling and when water comes out pressure relief valve, you know your close to full. If it doesn't come out there when valve is open, check for by-pass valve(s) in wrong position and not filling the tank.

I have just purchased a PC air compressor. I have set it up when I turn it on it runs but no pressure builds in the tank. It gauge stays at zero. I noticed there is a part on the bottom of the tank that...

The machine came with this valve with screw showing (i.e gives the impression of it being open). When I left it this way, my machine filled correctly. When I tightened it, the tank gauge did not fill up, and there was air coming out from that valve.

It sounds like the small valve that releases the pressure out of the main pipe that runs between the compressor and tank is not working once the tank is full and the motor automatically cuts off. You know this valve is working by the sound of a short spurt if air being released when the motor cuts off. Releasing this pressure means that the motor is able to restart easily because there is no load. If the valve is not releasing this air, the compressor is trying to start under full load which the motor is not capable of doing, hence the humming and popping of breakers due to a current overload as the motor tries to start. Motor burnout is possible if it keeps recurring.

This small release valve is attached to the Pressure control switch that switches the motor On & Off and usually has a small pipe going to it or is incorporated inside the Pressure Control Switch. If the valve appears to be working then it means that the Non-return valve on the input to the tank is not sealing properly and letting air back into the main pipe causing the compressor to start under load. Check both valves for correct operation and if not working properly, talk to the people you bought it from to have it repaired under warranty seeing that unit is brand new .

Air won't come out of tank

does the guage show that it is building pressure? if not then the compressor is not working and its not pressurinsing the tank, if it is storing pressure and the compressor is working check the valve on the connector and that its depressing and releasing the air.
