Hi smonalisax,
If you washer is not draining you could have a problem with your lid switch. It will also cause the washer not to spin or pump. If your washer tries to spin then stops it is not the lid switch.
If it tries to spin you should next check your pump. Your pump could have an obstruction in it. Like a sock or hair pin. For this problem remove the hoses from the pump and clear obstruction be ready for the flood of water. you may want to dip the water out before you do any hose removal. If you do not find anything in the pump, check voltage to the pump. To do this put the machine in spin and start. read the voltage going to the pump. If you have voltage and it is not pumping, you will need a new pump. If you have no voltage and the lid switch is good, you will most likely need a new timer. Good luck and I really hope this will FIXYA.

Water discharging from drain hose by itself while running washing machine, drain switch not functioning

It sounds like you have a simple syphon running. The end of the drain hose MUST be higher than half way up the height of the drum. If the hose is lower than this then physics is not on your side and water will simply fall out of the hose because the end is lower than the height of the water in the drum!

Using for the first time and won't work

Hello Loulan,

This is a pretty common problem and the solution is quite simple. It’s caused by the drain hose siphoning water out of the washer tub. There are two common causes for siphoning and I’ll explain both of them below.

One cause for siphoning is simply that the drain hose discharge is below the fill level of the washer tub. This picture shows the minimum drain height needed to avoid siphoning.
123fa40.jpg

Another common cause for siphoning is not having an air break between the drain hose and the drain stand pipe. Usually, this isn’t a problem since the drain hose diameter is usually much smaller than the diameter of the drain stand pipe. But sometimes folks will inadvertently remove the air break by duct taping the drain hose to the stand pipe. They might do this because the drain hose keeps popping out of the stand pipe when the washer pumps out the tub. Other times, the drain hose might fit into the stand pipe with a tight interference fit.

Hope that helps...Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.
If it hasn’t, please do not assign a rating just yet. Please post back as to what steps you took, results, etc, and I will try to assist you further as best I can. I am here at your service.

Thank you for using FIXYA!

Programs don't advance. The machine seems stuck in each mode, it will fill and wash but doesn't advance through the programs. I have to switch off and manually advance the dial to rinse, spin, drain etc

Try moving your drain hose to a different height.t may need lower than you have it. My washer did the same , Drain hose needs to be higher than the pump that drains the washer.

Samsung washing machines water drains continously

The drain hose is too low, you need to lift the height of the drain hose as it is siphoning and won't be able to fill to the required level.

"4E" is displayed after hours

Please check the drain hose. Maybe it fell too low, so that when the water comes in it just drains out of the drain hose, thus the needed water level is not reached. If so, raise the drain hose so that the highest loop should reach about the same height of your washer

My kenmore elite calypso has a code of ld

Hi there,

Well error Ld means - Long drain - The Ld error code indicates a long drain. It is displayed when water level does not change while the drain pump is running. Anyway you can please check out the following steps -
Is the drain hose kinked or clogged?
Check the drain pump for clogs. Is it running?
Is the drain hose height greater than 95 inches?
Is the pressure switch hose connection from the tub to the machine control board pinched or plugged?
Do you see excessive suds in the basket? Are you using high efficiency (HE) detergent?

You can try to reset your washer by Pressing STOP/CANCEL. Please check out all the above steps, post comments if further you have the same problem.......

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Calypso - water goes straight to drain hose-not drum

the hose may still be filled from last cycle. try to put machine in final spin mode where all water from previous wash will be spun out the drain hose. once a siphon is started it can only be stopped by introducing air into the drain hose.

Constant drain won't fill

Look at how the drain hose is run. The highest part of the hose needs to be comfortably higher than the maximum water level in the machine. The manual will tell you what minimum height you need, but if you can't find that, use 36" as a starting point. A.
