In a 52" x 22' Ultraside Intex pool with a saltwater ionizer and a sand pump can I use pool shock to kill algae without damageing the saltwater ionizer system and the sand pump?

There seem to be different versions of algae killer - look for one that specifies that it's safe with saltwater systems (sorry, not familiar specifically with Pool Shock)

How do an intex pump to a non intex pool?

this question has come up before too me , what i respond with is it to be perminate or temporary ? , the reason i ask if its to be perminate then i suggest purchasing the correct filter for the pool, but on temporary situation (to just finish out season) then yes even though the pipe sizes are different , the use of std plumbing home DWV rubber soft connections available at any good hardware/homecenter would work , but heres the temporary part of it , saltwater pool water degrades the rubber making it brittle , but will last a month or so

Can i use a sand filter with the intex krystal clear saltwater system?

Yes you can.
The saltwater chlorinator is connect to the outlet water pipe from the sand filter before the water returns to the pool.
Depending upon the model of the saltwater chlorinator It may need to be mounted horizontally or vertically, check with the installation instructions..

What is the recommended end-of-season maintenance for the chlorinating pump?

According to the Intex website, the following maintenance is required for this product:

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed to operate with a minimum amount of maintenance. It is recommended to always turn the pump on prior to turning on the Saltwater Pool System (see Owner's Manual) unless the chlorine generator is part of a combination pool and filter set, to ensure that air pockets are eliminated from the hoses, and that water is flowing through the unit. In addition, the electrolytic cell should be examined and cleaned if necessary. The frequency of cleaning will depend on the local water conditions, pool usage conditions, and length of time the Saltwater Pool System is operated each day. (See Owner's Manual.)

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems contain several features that minimize maintenance requirements:

1.) An automatic self-cleaning cycle: The Saltwater Pool System automatically undergoes a self-cleaning cycle to maximize the operating length of the electrolytic cell.

2.) Safety diagnostics: the Saltwater Pool System will alert the operator to three conditions that could result in poor operation: Low water flow through the unit, Low Salt level in the pool water, High salt level in the pool water. If any of these conditions exist, the system will sound a buzzer, and flash a digital code on the control panel (Model 8110) or a Red LED will light up. (Model 6110).If the condition is not addressed, the system will automatically shut itself off to prevent damage to the unit.

Hi I have ab 18x52' intex above ground pool with klear saltwater system, but I have algae in the bottom of the pool, please tell what to do to clean it without emptying the pool, and can i use any...

Get ready for a full weekend of cleaning your pool :) This is the chemical free method...
1st... Start with a clean filter...So clean your filter...
2nd.. Vacuum your pool and get most of the algae up from the bottom and sides.. Go slow so you do not stir up the algae. Make sure you use the vacuum attachment with brushes..
3rd..Clean your filter...
4th...repeat step 2 again...
5th... Clean your filter...
6th... Brush your pool with a pool brush to loosen the remaining algae..
7th... Set your pump timer for 12 hrs and your chlorinator for 10 to 11 of those hrs... and run for 3 days...
8th.. Check your water and see if has cleared and the algae is almost completely gone.. If so, check your free chlorine level and adjust your cycle down if at the required level..
9th.. if your chlorine level is not at optimal, run at the 12 hr cycle for 3 more days and check..
10th.. After water is clear and free of algae, clean your filter and adjust your cycle down to control your free chlorine level...
Good luck and hope this method works for you.. It has for me for over 2 years with my Intex Salt Water system...
Please take the time to rate me and write a comment... really appreciate!!!

No chlorine registering; plates need cleaned every few days

The recommended amount of salt is just a guide> You say yours is ideal
would that be 3000ppm and are you using test strips for salt that are 3 reading or color reading
Go with # reading they are most accurate any lower than 2800ppm and you will not generate enough chlorine and could trigger low salt code any higher than 3500 and it will taste bad and could trigger high salt alarm

when adjusting salt you need to filter only for 24 hours before trying to generate chlorine

I have never cleaned my electro cell

other chemicals should include a non foaming algaecide once a week follow direction for your gallons of water
Also chlorine stabilizer once a month or so depending on conditions this helps hold the chlorine level

and a water clarifier this helps the minute particals clump together thus being possible for the paper filter to catch it.
The paper cartriges let to much small debris through that you cant see

The key to using an intex system is filter filter filter if you do not filter enough you will next go green and that is a nightmare

Have 2 filters so that while one is being used the other has been blasted out with a garden hose and drying An inserted dry filter works better than a freshly cleaned wet one
I have had the same 2 filters for this being my 4th season
I run mine 24/7 it is like keeping a 40 watt bulb on

After 5 days using saltwater system water is cloudy. Before installing new system no cloudy water. Help.

Intex salt water system does not keep your pool cleaner. It is only a means to not have to buy liquid or tablets
If your salt is not at 3000ppm not below 2700 not above 3800 you will not generate enough sanitizer ( chlorine )

You need a good stabilizer to help hold chlorine content and a good non foaming algecide which you would use every 5-7 days

Don't forget chlorine consumption is caused by many factors.

# of swimmers, heat, sun, rain, did any one sneak in with sun tan oils and so on and the worst thing for a pool is to not use it on a daily basis.

Get your money back on the salt system and go with what worked for you.

I am not impressed at all with these salt water chlorinators.Shock the water and keep the filter running next day add a powdered chlorine.filter still running. check the balance with test strip in about four hours. If chlorine level is good start vacuming the algee off the bottom of the pool. Now throw away the salt generator and stay with the chlorine packs every week to two weeks continue to monitor with test strips

Intex system not giving chlorine, no errors but no green light

I found I had the same problem. I would set the hours, it would count them down but the green light would NOT come on indicating it was producing chlorine, yet the sleep light would light up after the count down so I knew the light was working. I checked my salt, made adjustments, had to do shock treatments to keep it clean. Today I  found out that the manual is incorrect in how it says to set it. After you set the hours, instead of pushing both the arrows at the same time until it beeps, push the down button until it beeps, and then the up button until it beeps. For 2 months I have fussed with this system, and finally the green light came on and my test strips indicate it is producing chlorine. Yeah! To bad intex does not seem to mention this on their web site.
Good Luck
