Hi wayne

Hawaii.... half your luck! No worries mate... I got an email back from the Agent I spoke of, they only deal with classic Nakimichi: tapedecks and so on. Still looking for you however... be in touch soon.

Hi Wayne... got a email from the agent I contacted posing asyou getting advice on your lead. Not the news we could have hoped for...

    Hi there

Thank you for your e-mail, but we cannot help you
    with this request.

Classic Nakamichi are the service centre for the
classic ranges of Nakamichi Cassette Decks and other products - from 1975 up to
    1996.

We don't have any manuals or parts for the current
ranges of DVD Players or Sound Space products.

Please contact us again if you need parts for
    Cassette Decks.

    Regards
    Paul Wilkins

I'm not familiar with this product, and there the best I offer is that you consult the user guide (which you probably already have)
http://www.ps2netdrivers.net/manual/nakamichi.ta-4/#manual
or (buy) a service manual (which it seems includes a troubleshooting guide) from any of a number places, two are given below:
http://www.manualszone.com/en/nakamichi-service-manuals/62888-NAKAMICHI-TA4-service-manual.html
and
http://www.nakamichi.owner-manuals.com/TA4-service-manual-NAKAMICHI.html
All three manuals/guides are available from
http://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/nakamichi/ta-4.shtml
There other websites where you an download the service manual (I don't know if the are the 'official' service manual, or different ones that have been written by different people).
If you are really stuck contact Nakamichi through www.nakamichi.com or (what appears to be a more friendly site) http://www.nakamichi.co.uk/support

How do you connect a Nakamichi surround sound system to my Phillips tv model 42PF7220A/37

I'm confused. The message header shows a problem with a Yamaha RX-V995 receiver.

As for connecting a Nakamichi (or any surround system) to a TV - the only connection would be the Monitor output (video connection) to an appropriate video input of your TV.

If it is a Nakamichi, it is a little older and probly predates the invention of HDMI cables. My guess is you will either use the S video output or Composite video output to the TV's input with similar connections.

This allows you to route whatever video sources you have connected to the Nakamichi to the TV.

Hi, when I plug my TV's optical out into the Nakamichi AV8's optical input, and switch to "DVD/Optical" (after hitting "Digital Input" buttno) ... no sound comes out. I have...

Maybe assign it?

If the digital TV-related audio actually originates elsewhere (Cable Box?) you could skip the TV and use the Cable Box as the audio source. Nothing is gained by flinging an audio or video signal around the room to be handled (but not improved) by any device. I have no video entering my receiver and nothing but bare bones analog audio going to my TV in case I want to just watch the news or something else lo-fi.

Nakamichi AV-10 very little sound on the center speaker

could be the speaker, try connecting another speaker and cable and see if it improves. If the problem is still there and you've checked all the settings insuring that its not turned down, then could be an internal problem with the receiver.
Hope this helps a little at least.
