LNT4661F tv black shadow on left won't go away been told its the back panel does this make sense?

Hi most likely yes it is your panel. However there is a chance that it could be your t-con board. I would say 80% Panel 20% chance that it might be your t-con board. The T-con board is fairly inexpensive compare to teh screen so I would give it a try first.

I think I have the same problem on my LNT4661F. I happen to also have a 4061F and just temporarily swapped main boards, which confirmed that it is NOT the main board which is bad. Swapped LVDS cables to confirm that's OK too. If you replaced the T-con board, then that leaves the power board or the panel. Did you make any progress on this?

All the caps on the power board look good, but I hear a whistling noise from one of the power transistors.

Hey guys, got 32" Vizio plasma. Having issue with the tv going through this cycle where it's having a hard time turning on, the amber light will kick on and off several times before the tv turns on. ...

If you feel good about it, take off the back and examine the capacitors on your power supply. It should be located near the center of your set. In the event you can't find it, locate where you plug in your power cord and follow the path of wires until you find the circuit board where they plug in.

That's your power supply. The capacitors are the cylindrical objects on the board. They range in size and can be very small, to quite large. Look at the tops of them. They should be flat. If you see any that are raised in the center, those capacitors are no good.

That cycle you are describing is reminiscent of other sets having a similar problem. In those cases, it is the capacitors on the power supply that cause the issue. You can replace them with higher rated capacitors, if you prefer, or you may replace the power supply.

Hope that helps.

Screen will periodically go half black. Then it goes back to normal. Or the black slowly creeps up from bottom of screen.

A black image appears and goes away every once in awhile. you can still see the picture but the part that has dark image looks all ugly.

When you have video display problems such as shadows and lines that go away after warming up, or come and go during viewing, it is usually the LVDS cable and T CONN board going bad. The screen can have one of the following or combinations of blurs, different layers of brightness and lines. It could be the backlight but most of the problems with the LNT4661F have been this.

I had the shadow and line problem and replaced both the cable and board for $120 and that fixed my problem. The TV was only 18 months old. Since I had the TV apart, I went ahead and replaced the capacitors on the power supply board so I wouldn’t run into the clicking problem that also affects this model TV. You can find the parts numbers for the LNT4661F cable and board below. You can find links to YouTube ( Part 1 & 2) to show how to replace the capacitors. Good luck.

Westech 5000 battery low and i can't figure out how to fix it

There are 2 posibilities for having a low battery. 1) Your main backup battery for the control panel is low, or 2) You have wireless transmitters in your system that use small batteries and need to be replaced. To replace the control panel's battery look for a large metal box which is the control panel. These panels are normally located either in the basement or a 1st floor closet. Open the panel if you have a key. If you do not have a key take a pry bar and pop the box so it opens. Inside you will find an electronic motherboard with a black & red wire which is plugged into the battery. Grab a hold of the connector at the battery and wiggle/pull until the wire/connector disengages. Do the same for the other wire. Take the battery to a battery warehouse store and have them match it up. Be sure when reconnecting the new battery to plug the black wire/connector into the balck marked side of the battey and red to red. If you have a wireless system you will need to pull apart one of the transmitters & see the type of battery used. Replace all the batteries at the same time. They will last normally 3-5 years. The control panel's battery will last about 5 years.

try looking at systems from a later model, if you are replacing everything anyway. the only draw back is you would have to convert the other belt driven accs. to a cerpentine belt

Take the blown fuse to Radio Shack or look up 'Electronic Equipment and Supplies= Dealers' in the yellow pages. It shouldn't be hard to find.
