I would take it straight back to the shop where it was purchased and politely ask for a replacement that works correctly as it should still be under warranty.

There is a problem with your pressure switch. You should have a little black box with a red lever to turn your air compressor on and off. This housing contains your pressure switch, the pressure switch sends an electrical signal to the switch to make your air compressor run. When enough pressure builds up the pressure switch activates, and breaks the signal until the pressure drops below a certain point. I will do some more research on your compressor and find out which pressure switch you need to order. i need you to find any numbers on the compressor you can, serial number, model, stock number, anything you can to help me find the part number.
Thank you for patience,

Motor doesn't shut off once it reaches its maximum pressure level. It continues to run until it is unplugged, whether it needs to refill or not.

Does this unit have a magnetic starter or just the pressure switch? Here are a few items I would check. Make sure power is unplugged. 1 - If it has a magnetic starter remove the box cover. you are checking the starter to see it has stuck closed. In the center of the starter should be what appears to be an indentation. use a screwdriver and push in on it. If it moves in and out freely it's OK. If it will not move you've found your problem.replace starter. 2 - Check the wiring to the starter. Black wire from motor should be on left bottom on overload. White motor wire should be on right bottom of starter. Incoming power should be located on top of starter left and right side. NO Starter, pressure switch only. 1 - Remove pressure switch cover. Inspect pressure switch contacts to see if they are open or closed. If contacts are open move on to wiring inspection. If closed drain all air out of tank. while draining air watch pressure switch contacts depending on pressure switch setting contacts should open around 130 - 135 psi. if all air drains out of tank and contacts do not open use a small screw driver and gently open contacts. They probably welded themselves together. If this is your problem I would get some new contacts. 2 - inspect wiring, left side of switch should have one wire from incoming power on top screw and motor wire on bottom screw. Right side of switch should have one wire from incoming power on top screw and motor wire on bottom screw. Good luck.

Hello
Check that the pressure switch is installed correctly, meaning there is a in and out. There should be.
If not try turning the pressure switch around or installing it reverse of what it is now.

Also there should be an adjusment on the switch to stop it from releasing at a certin pressure.I think 150psi is max.Set it below.

Compressor UP6 25 125, runs all the time but is only under load for a short time, should it shut down between loads?

This unit will shut down if unloaded for a set period of time. Usually 5 to 10 minutes. This time could be longer if some one has changed it from the factory setting. There is a timer in the control box that starts counting down when the unit unloads. If it stays unloaded long enough for the timer to count down the unit will stop until the air pressure drops to the low set point on the pressure switch. It will then start up. If the unit loads before the counter counts down the timer starts from the beginning when it unloads again. This cycle continues until you manually shut it down or you stop using air long enough for the timer to reach Zero and shut down.

I have a husky brand air compressor with 7.5 h.p. compressors. when pressure builds to its maximum amount, compressor will not shut off it continues to run while pop off valve opens.

Hello,

Ypur pressure switch ( the grey box), is not shutting the motor off. It is is either adjusted higher( too much pressure), or stuck. Unplug it and remove the cover, Then make sure the gold colored lever moves. This is what shuts the power to the motor off. You can plug it in and watch to see if the lever moves before the pop off blows. It depands on the tank rating as to what pressure yours should be set to. Around 125 psi is recomended.

Hope this helps.

Put new switch on compressor and now wont shut off.

the regulator is failing to do its job. make sure you have it set properly. if you did, you will likely need a new one. also remember to drain the compressor every month to prevent rust from moisture build up in the tank. good luck.

Ingersol T30 won't shut off and blows pressure release valve

the wire juction box on your compressor has a pressure switch that may be wound in to tight take the cover off the box there should be a switch with a machine screw with nut and washer and spring back this nut off and see if that helps if you go to far you just crank it back in until the switch hit although it may be the other way around you may have to tighten to lower the pressure some of them are made that way if this does not solve your problem send me a picture of the switch and can solve it from there

I have worked on many makita compressors and have run-across this problem on a few of them. Your compressor has a check valve that is supposed to hold tank pressure after the switch reaches set pressure. There is an unloader valve built into the pressure switch that releases the pressure in the discharge hose after the unit shuts off. The unloader allows the compressor to restart with-out any pressure in the discharge line. If the brass check valve is leaking pressure back into the system, air will leak out of the unloader valve. Follow the discharge line to the tank and you will see the brass check valve. To test valve for fault, run the compressor till it builds around 80 psi and unplug the unit from the wall outlet. Remove the 1/4" hose connector from the check valve and check for air leaking out of the valve. If it is leaking you can order form www.toolpartsdirect.com. or call the makita 1-800 number. The price is about the same. Good Luck on your repair.
