How do I delete the irritating Acer advertising on my Aspire 4315 laptop? The sound and images intrude when I pause for some time in my work on the computer.

go to control panel>> add remove programs>>> find the offending acer software and uninstall it, do not try to manaully delete it as this will make more problems then its worth.
i dont like the OEM versions of windows that come with laptops and usually do a fresh install to remove all the annoying ad programs as stated above

Acer 5334 - BIOS/SYSTEM Password Removal

Many people wonder how to removal Acer BIOS and System passwords. If the system is bootable to windows you can use the Acer eSettings Management software included with your computer to remove or set the passwords.

This guide will show you how remove a password using a hardware method that is faster than software as well as successful when you can't load software due a boot password.

First thing first, this procedure is done with the laptop battery still in the unit.

What you need to do this:
  • Phillips Screw Driver
  • Plastic pry stick
  • 1/4 inch wide metal shim or medium flathead screw driver
Procedure:
  1. Turn the unit upside down.
  2. Remove the screw that holds the middle panel that covers the memory and wireless adapter.
  3. Carefully use the plastic pry stick the tug the panel off of the system to expose the components.
  4. Remove all memory from the unit.
  5. Locate the white square box with the symbol "J1" next to it.
    erustownsend.jpg
  6. Open the computer and have it rest on so that the screen is down and the rest is upward.
  7. Now take the metal shim or flathead screw driver. Scratch the 2 solider points just enough to remove the protective enamel.
  8. Place the metal object across the two solider points so you short them.
  9. Turn the computer on for 5 seconds then turn it off.
  10. Remove the short and place one memory stick in the computer.
  11. Boot up, hit F2 to enter BIOS and verify system passwords removed.
  12. Shut down and place additional stick of memory if included
  13. Replace the cover and screw.

At this point you should be good to go. Good Luck

My leptop acer 4720zg physical dumping error

1) Examine the “System” and “Application” logs in Event Viewer for other recent errors that might give further clues. To do this, launch > Eventvwr.msc from a Run box; or open “Administrative Tools” in the Control Panel then launch Event Viewer.

2) If you’ve recently added new hardware, remove it and retest.

3) Run hardware diagnostics supplied by the manufacturer.

4) Make sure device drivers and system BIOS are up-to-date.

5) However, if you’ve installed new drivers just before the problem appeared, try rolling them back to the older ones.
6) Open the box and make sure all hardware is correctly installed, well seated, and solidly connected.

7)Confirm that all of your hardware is on the Hardware Compatibility List.

8)Check for viruses.

9)Investigate recently added software.

10)Examine (and try disabling) BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

ARCHIE SOFTWARE

As a BestBuy employee, I have had experience dealing with Archie. Sure, it limits the computer to an almost unusable state, but we're required to use it in order to protect our display units. BestBuy employees should be fully removing the software before you purchase it, but if they fail to do so properly, there is still hope.

Option 1: Take the unit back to BestBuy and have a Geek Squad agent remove it using an Archie disc.

Option 2: Take the unit back to BestBuy and have a Geek Squad agent fully restore your unit.

Option 3: Use the included recovery discs to restore your unit back to its factory settings. If, however, your specific model does not come with these discs included (HP, Sony, etc...), and you would rather not make another trip to BestBuy, please follow option 4.

Option 4: Create your own recovery discs and fully restore your unit. If you're running Vista, open your Start menu and type "rec" in the search box. Most models will come up with a Recovery Disc Creation program. It's important to have these discs anyway, so you might as well create them now and save yourself money in the future. Follow through with the restore afterward and you're set to go.

Sorry guys for the inconvenience. Believe me, we don't enjoy the software any more than you do.

Low power laptop

With just about any laptop aprox 100w continuous is needed to power one. As long as you have an extra 100w you should be fine with about any laptop, but I'm sure you are familar with adding up the useage for your generator.

As far as power usage on BestBuys models you will have to go to your Bestbuy and get that data. I looked online and they don't list the power usage.
