Question about Apple iMac Desktop
I Have This iMac G3 This Is Giving Me So Much Trouble. It Boots Up With The Screen Yellow. I Know For A Fact That This Is A Loose Connection To The CRT. I Was Just Wondering How To Discharge The CRT. I Know This Is Very Fatal, But I Just Want To Sell It!
Thanks In Advance!
Discharging the CRT is quite tricky and dangerous, it should only be carried out by a qualified mac tech.
Never work on a mac with the power connected!
The gear you need is safty glasses, ungrounded foam pad, needlnose pliars, wire lead with alligator clip at both ends and a CRT discharge tool (if you do not have a discharge tool you can use a insulated srewdriver attached to a wire lead with alligator clips on both ends)
Use one hand keeping the other behind your back. Do not touch anything with the other had while you are discharging.
Once you have taken off the casing connect the alligator clip from the lead to the ground lug on the all-in-one system. Then slide the discharge tool under the anode cap into the anode aperture. As soon as you feel the metal of the probe touching the metal of the aperture, the CTR is discharged.
Try not to leave the machine open for any lenght of time.
You can find more information on Apples knowldge base.
