Replace the string. Possible sources are "dial cord" used in older radios to move the dial pointer... Find it online.

Another source might be braided fishing line.

Low volume one speaker

It seems likely that the pot (volume control) is dirty. with a slider you can normally get fluid down the side of the knob, your's is a rotary control and you sometimes can do it round the shaft of the pot but more often have to spray it in where the connections go into the pot. You'll need some contact cleaner spray which you can get online or from an electronics store, get it onto the pot track and then take the pot to each end of its travel a few times, this'll probably sort it out until next time. If you're taking it apart it might be worth just getting a new and better pot and soldering that in if you are hand with a soldering iron. The ones in Mackies nowdays are pretty sh1t.

I have a bad pot on the very last knob closer to the bridge if i want to replace it could 250k be replace with 500k pot or vice verse

You can. If it is a tone control you may have a reduced effective rotation range. Probably this won't matter to most people. As a volume replacement, replacing with a lower value may reduce treble slightly, and a higher value increase treble slightly. It is quite a small effect though and you may even like it better.

When I use the Master volume the amp will suddenly bypass the master volume. And when I play on the top boost the volume fluctuates by itself. Thanks for your help Devon

I suspect you may have either a circuit board crack or the volume pot is bad or soldering of it is bad. Vibration will make things come and go. Look for broken solder around the pot leads first. Then look for a cracked circuit trace on the board near the ground end of the volume pot. If you put cleaner in the pots NEVER use Deoxit or Blue Shower. Use CRC226 which is available at Home Depot in the electrical dept.

Hi, Ghost midi pickup on MF guitar : Midi volume wiill not increase progressively. Look at data input in computer : controler 7 data from 0 to 15 = no sound then at 16 sound will be audible but already...

The first thing is to verify the pot you are using has the correct taper... there are several types and the nomenclature is NOT too consistent. The second thing is to measure the voltage out of the pot to make sure it covers the range between the outside terminals. After that measure the voltage across the pot... I suspect it might be 5 volts... if you find it way below that, that would certainly be the problem. Note: I do not have schematics for this product and my comments here are based upon my engineering experience and how this sytem is likely to work. The MIDI convertor MAY use a PIC processor or similar.

I have a Thomas Symphony Royale 782 with the rack portion of the rack and pinion volume control broken. Where might I find this component?

If it is the potentiometer that is broken, it is likely an AllenBradley "J" style pot.

Here is Digikey site for J pots. Choose resistance to match. You may need to check if it is an audio taper as well. The site should have them as well.

Marshall MG50 DFX, the volume knob OD channel crackles

Either the control is damaged (happens if they get hit) or it is possible the circuit board it is mounted on has broken solder OR worse, a crack near the control. The unit will require servicing. Parts are readily available.

The volume control is not working... even when the volme is "off" it is still on

Chances are the resistance element in the volume control has broken. This is COMMON if the control knob gets smashed some way.

A less common thing would be broken solder where the control is soldered to the circuit board. This would be obvious once the board is accessable.

Servicing involves removing the chassis and replacing the potentiometer.

Novation X-Station 49 rotary potentiometers for volume output is broken. How to replace it?

The volume control will LIKELY be an "Audio Taper". If the shaft is broken off, you can measure the resistance between the outside terminals. Find a suitable replacement at or

Note: You may have to shorten the shaft to match the original one.

Some of the pots have the resistance marked on them. There are a couple conventions for marking resistance.

I have the washburn wi65 pro and the volume is 100% from 2 to 10 and 0%-99% from 0 to 2. how can i fix that?

The probable cause is either one end of the volume pot is broken, or the wire to it is broken. Test the control and wiring with an Ohmmeter.
