You did not mention what model television u are working on, but this small info may help, make sure you remove the stand mounting screws completely from the unit as these screws can keep the stand from being removed, also some unit come off from the other side face first, try turning the unit on its back to see if this is the case with your model.

What is involved in replacing the power supply board on my Magnavox 42mf438b/27 42 in.

Pretty easy. Place the monitor face down on a blanket or something like that. Remove the screws on the back of the monitor (there will be about 20). Pull the back off, set it aside and then remove the power supply board. Pop the new one in and put it back together and you are good to go.

Sound but no picture. Two and a half years old.

If this set is under warranty you should return it to get it fix/replace. (Being this old it probably isn't.)
If not then;
This sounds like the inverter/backlight board has failed.
This board controls the back-light for the set.

IF YOU KNOW HOW TO WORK WITH ELECTRONICS REPAIR or have a friend with knowledge/skill you can fix it.

>Unplug the set.
>Remove the back cover.
>Remove the shield cover over the inverter board(s).
>Unplug the cables connected to the board.
>Remove the screws holding the board.
>Put in the replacement board and replace the screws.
>Plug the cables into the board.
>Replace the shield cover over the boards.
>Replace the back cover.

When replace the circuit boards, avoid touching the front or back and handle by the edges to avoid contaminates and static

Get the part number that matches your board.

A search shows that this tv has two inverter boards. The one I show is the Master and the other is the Slave.
(The Slave inverter is sometime called Ballast board;)
If you do it yourself you can replace both to know you corrected the problem.

.You can get this part from several places.

It looks something like;

Have sound but no picture csn shut power off and back on and the word polaroid shows up but then a black screen but do have the sound from the station

I have the same TV and had the same problem. Here is the solution to fix it. On the back of the TV in the middle remove the one screw that is holding the black cover on. Remove the cover, it should slide down. Under that cover is a metal cover with I believe has 3 screws. Take these out and remove this cover. There are 2 circuit boards under this cover. The one with the bad capacitors is the top circuit board. Remove the 6 screws that hold this board in place and unplug the 3 or 4 connections so the board will come out. Be careful and remember how it goes back together. Take pictures if not sure. The capacitors are located at EC17 & EC18 on the board. You can get these at and the part # is 493-2069-ND. They have a picture of what they look like so you know what you are looking for. These will need to be replaced by someone that knows how to soldier them back in. I sent mine to JD Electronics in Poland, Me. (207)998-5687 Call him and see if he can fix it. Mine works fine and it took me about 10 minutes to put it back in my TV. I sent him the capacitors and the board in a box. Hope this helps.

How to fix my lg screen is only half viewable. the visable area is 50% and only on the right side. thanks

The problem is in the right (viewed from the back of the panel) X- Drive Board (A-Board). Replace it. Model number is needed for the part number of the board.
Before servicing your unit, touch your fingers repeatedly to a ground connection point or unpainted metal in the product. Before removing a replacement part from its package, touch the anti-static bag to a ground connection point or unpainted metal in the product. Handle the electronic control assembly by its edges only
  1. Remove the back cover by removing the screws holding it.
(The Stand does not need to be removed).
  2. moz-screenshot.pngThe right X-Board is located at the bottom part of the TV beneath a heat sink. moz-screenshot-2.png
  3. Disconnect Main Board connectors.
  4. moz-screenshot-1.pngRemove the Main Board by removing the screws holding it.
  5. Remove the screws holding the heat sink of the X Drive Boards in place. Rock back and slide down to remove.
  6. Disconnect Right X Drive Board connectors. Take extra care not to damage the locks and TCP films. They can be easily damaged.
  7. Remove the screws holding the Right X Drive Board in place.
  8. Remove the Right X Drive Board.
  9. Replace the defective Right X Drive board and reassemble the unit in reverse order.

Red blinking light on a Magnavox Plasma TV

Here is the solution. For less that 100$ your Magnavox Plasma TV. Model # 50MF2310/37 will be running like a champ.

Magnavox Plasma TV. Model # 50MF2310/37 screen has no picture. There is no sound, TV comes on and then after a few seconds clicks and screen remains blank.

On the main power circuit board to Capacitors are prone to failure from over load. The caps are 3300uf 10v 105+c capacitors located to the left of the AC power input.

Magnavox will refer you to a service center. They will advise $$$ for an inspection. They will also want to charge upwards of 500$ to replace the entire board.

1. Unplug your TV
2. Disconnect all connections from your TV
3. With assistance lay your TV on its face on a non-scratching service
4. Remove the back panel screws.
5. Lift back panel off
6. The central board is your main power board.
7. Remove all wire harnesses from the main board.
8. Remove all screws that are holding the main board in place.
9. Lift the main board out and carefully place it into a non electromagnetic pouch.
10. Take the board to a Circuit Board repair shop.
11. Have them replace the the above mentioned Caps.
12. Re-install the board in your TV.

NOTE: Replace the caps with 3300uf 16v 105+ high temp caps(preferrably Japanese caps)

This fix cost me 80$ and my time to search for other who had the same issue. Try searching for Magnavox Plasma TV. Model # 50MF2310/37 bad circuit board or Magnavox Plasma TV bad capacitors or Magnavox Plasma TV bad ciruit board.

Hope this all help, Magnavox is should take ownership for this problem and recall any tv's that have these caps in them. The worst part about this is that teh **** from the repair center that was paid 100$ to check the TV, stripped out the screw holes and damaged the case for the TV.

Portland Laptop Repair was awesome. They repaired the board and it looked like new. Check them out at

How to Remove the Base

I have an Olevia 42" TV. I was able to remove the base by removing 16 screws on the back side. They were arranged vertically in 4 sets of 4. The screws go through the back panel, through the base and attach (without nuts) directly into the inside of the TV. After removing the 16 screws the stand simply slides out.
I tried removing two screws underneath the base area. They were small screws and were a pain to remove. I thought I would try that first instead of removing 16 screws but that did nothing.
Good luck!
