Question about BenQ FP71G+ 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I have a BenQ FP71G S monitor and since some days it stopped turning on, when I press the power button the green light turn on, I hear the little whistle a monitor usually do when turning on aaaand like two seconds after the green light just turn off and that's all. I never get to see the benQ logo or anything. I decided to open the thing myself and found a burnt area on the power supply pcb, I've read a little about bad capacitors and found three of them popped, two Elite 16v1000µf and one smaller 10v1000µf. Here's a picture I took with the bad capacitors circled: http://i37.tinypic.com/nowti1.png .. So I guess I found the problem? I only have to replace those three only? How do I replace them? Where can I buy some capacitors? Thanks!

You can get the caps kit (I would suggest to replace them as a set) from http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx

You will need 35watts soldering iron, solder remover braid.
See example of how to replace caps here: http://boredprojects.blogspot.com/2008/06/hp-vs19d-fix.html
or YOUTUBE.
Look for cold solder joints in the burnt areas also.

The 16vdc rating one are for the 12vdc used by the backlight inverter board, there should be at least two 10vdc rating caps, they are for 5vdc logic. Please look for that, if you trace out the positive lead of the caps, it should have small inductor connecting between the positive lead of the cap.

Hello

Parts (probably capacitors) in the monitor power supply are failing. My company repairs these for an average of $50.00 + parts + shipping or take it to a local repairman.

I have a benq fp71g model q7t4 computer monitor when i hit the power button the green indicator light comes on but goes right off i can hear a clicking sound when i hit the button what can i do

use another monitor with your pc to make sure your graphic card is working and

connect that benq monitor (to double check it is ok) another pc

find out if the clicking comes from the monitor or the pc tower,
if yes from the tower than your video card fails.
exchange it with another and replug benq monitor, boot up.that should solve the prob

Benq monitor powers off immediately

Try sending monitor back as most Benq monitors come with at least a two years silver warranty. Benq are very helpful and their repairers are quick and polite. You will find their no.s on their website www.benq.com my monitor was experiencing the same and for $10 postage and a one week wait is repaired and working fine.
