Duo-therm modle# 57908.321 on top of a scamper camper. Needs to be recharged. What kind of freon do we use?

Think about it for a minute. You have a refrigerator in your home. And I'm sure you know of several other homes that have refrigerators that are several years old. How many times last year did a service tech come to your house or the others and put refrigerant in the fridge? Or how many times in the past 5 years? If I'm not mistaken this unit is a sealed unit. Meaning all pipe or tubing connections are welded. So if it really does need refrigerant. Thats only part of the problem. Refrigerant does not get used up.
Yours took 16oz R22.at the factory and it should still have all 16oz. Unless you have a leak. If you don't find & fix the leak first the same problem will return. Beware of shops that want to add so called "leak sealers" or dye to your AC. Any good shop can find a leak without adding any dye if they have the right equipment and well trained techs. In the not too distant past if a unit went back to the factory with dye or any other "additive" in it. The warranty was void. Most leaks can be found with soap solutions. The tough ones require an electronic leak detector & sometimes dry nitrogen. If you want to, keep me posted. briconnefl on aye oh ell.

My duo therm a/c unit is leaking water through my light fixture and not down the side of my trailer. its is blowing cool but not hard

Hi,
You need to go up top, take the cover off and clean out the drain hole...then it will drain okay again.

Duo Therm rooftop A/C turns on then off within 5 minutes

Hello,

It does sound like it is low on refrigerant gas (R-22). Everything else makes sense. I cannot tell if your's has service ports, but that isn't really an issue. They make bolt on ports just in case they're ever needed, and install them a lot when servicing refrigerators. Any service shop can install them, if necessary.

Duo therm 13.5 does not cool

Hello, W/D here.

Some models are equipped with charging ports, some are not. If your's doesn't have them, there is a service port that bolts on to the tubing, and the tubing is then punctured, giving you service ports. This is an easy add-on fix, and not expensive. I believe that all of the rooftop A/Cs are R22 refrigerant, so, yes, special tools and a license are required to assess the unit. If the fan/compressor works without cooling, it should be seen by a qualified technician. They can diagnose any issues, and add refrigerant if required. If you are actually low on refrigerant, you have a leak somewhere. If you system has recharging valves, it can be as simple as a valve stem leaking. As for you question regarding a relay, I doubt that this is the issue, as the fan and compressor are controlled by the relay's action, and sound like they work.

Best regards, W/D

What should refrigerant gauges read when charging walk in freezer?

Depends on what kind of refrigerant its works, if is an old unit probably is charged with R12 or R22 newer ones work with R404 ;for R12 presures should be around 20psi on the low side and 160 on the high side ,for R22 about 60 and 250 and for R404 50 and 350 ;you have to look at the condensing unit tag to find out what type of freon its uses ,or look at the expansion valve at the evaporator coil.
