According to my list for AEG Lavamat washers, 'C3' stands for 3 possible causes 1 'safety flood device operated' (I suspect it means that it has sensed some water in the bottom tray. Not an easy job to do but I would check for a leak underneath), 2 'pump fault' and 3 'module fault'. Sorry I can not be of more help ;-0(

Thanks and good luck!
1) Hold in the Pre-wash & soaking buttons TOGETHER; 2) At the same time, turn the knob clockwise from the OFF position, to "Short Spin". All the LEDS light up. 3) turn the knob anti-clockwise to "energy saving" 4) Machine is reset and the door release clicks.
I FOUND OUT THAT C9 WAS SOMETHING WRONG IN THE MOTOR. CHECKED OUT MOTOR AND FOUND THAT THE BRUSHES WERE WORN OUT AND I REPLACED THEM. I THOUGHT THAT WAS MY PROBLEM SOLVED BUT IT WAS NOT THE LIGHTS WERE STILL FLASHING AND C 9 STILL THERE. I PHONED A FRIEND WHO FIXES APPLIANCES.. HE TOLD ME WHAT TO DO TO CONFIGURE IT. LEAVE THE MACHINE OFF AND PRESS THE PRE WASH AND SOAKING BUTTONS TOGETHER AND SWITCH ON. ALL LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND AND MACHINE WILL WORK IT DID BUT YOU MIGHT HAVE TO DO IT A COUPLE OF TIMES.
I have had the same problem. If you switch the machine to off and then to cotton/linen 95, then press at the same time prewash, soaking, qick wash and stain buttons for 10 seconds switch it off. When I switched it on it worked.
