Question about Samsung RS2534 Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Have a 6 - 7 year old Samsung RS2534WW from Best Buy. The back interior wall of the fridge is bulging forward/inward for quite some time now. We had to remove some shelving in order to be able to close the door. Help! What causes this and how can we fix it? The fridge still cools well and the freezer side is not affected.

The fridge is cooling fine. It's in the garage and the water dispenser is not hooked up. We use it as a second fridge for mainly beverages and some frozen pizza etc. The interior back panel is bulging out, inward... very odd.

    No,

What you have is a defrost problem...if you remove that cover you will find a big block of ice behind there that is building bigger and bigger bulging the panel and pushing your shelves out....

Pull the screws out and remove that panel....you will see lots-o-ice....

Unfortunately we can't remove the panel at this time, but we were able to feel some solid ice behind the insulation in the lower part of fridge. We unplug the fridge and are defrosting it, hoping this will get rid of the built-up and we can push the panel back in place tomorrow. Hope thi will take care of the problem. Thanks so much for your help, we very much appreciate it!

Remote chance fridge is on defrost cycle but more likely the compressor has seized.
Have it check by a qualified tech.
It's usually cheaper to buy another fridge than to have the compressor replaced and new refrigerant installed.

Samsung refrigerator is freezing up on back panel of refrigerator . Will defrosting the whole unit do any good? The unit is 2 years old

well yes and no , defrosting it will temporally make it work , but main problem is there isn't proper air flow over evaporator coils id clean them with soap and water while defrosting out unit , if low airflow is allowed to continue then refrigerant gas will build to high press and escape and render unit a total replacement

My Samsung side by side RS2534WW is flashing 6 on freezer side and it feels like food is starting to thaw...what can I do?

needs to be minus-17 ..... 6 degrees should be fridge' temperature,
compressor may be hot and cut-out, pull away from wall at least 30cm and let some air to circulate behind to cool Compressor Motor
(possible Faulty Capacitor or Thermostat, )
it may also 'Reset' if turn fridge off for 10 minuites and back on again...have a listen and see if you can hear the Motor going?
if not.....I think your in Trouble!!!!

Freezer side of my RS2534WW Samsung is not working, fridge side is fine, evap coil fan is running,,, what could be wrong , it's only 7 years old

Your indications does not make sense! Your unit has ONE compressor that uses ONE evaporator coil to cool both sides. So if the FREEZER side is not cooling the fridge side should not cool either! Are you sure you don't have the freezer and refrigerator sides reversed?

Idesit built in fridge, compressor running, fridge doesn't seem to be cold although there is a build up of ice on back wall, happened a couple of times , if i defrost works fine for a while then back...

simple thing first make sure the door is sealing properly, unlikely to be this.

push the back wall of fridge with your hand, it should be solid.
if it is spongey it means the insulation has broken down and you need a new fridge

if not the back wall more than likely a blockage in the system, you will need a pot man out to check the system.

if this is the case and your fridge is over 5 years old dont waste money on repairing, buy a new fridge. if under 5 years def contact indesit company

I had the same problem everyone else is having with my samsung model RS2534WW refridgerator. After a power outage the freezer failed but the fridge worked fine. Then another outage and both sides quit...

I had a similar problem also after a power outage, I called best buy for service and 200 bucks later it was a no go, same problem. I found a repair manual on the online auction place E b a y and was able to troubleshoot down to a faulty relay on the PCB, look there for the manual it may help you. I is not the compressor cause then the freezer would not work also.

Freezer and ice maker quit working / The temp.display on the door is just flashing .

There may be a fan that moves cold air in the freezer and icemaker compartment(s).  If the fan freezes up the cold air will not circulate.  Since the fridge compartment is still cold it does not sound like a compressor problem.

i don;t think there would be a health issue involve.

the old fiber glass has been replaced with polyurethane foam now a days to replace the more dangerous fiber glass insulation.

if you can replace the plastic part that cracked open, that would much better.

tnx 4 using fixya,
