Smurge when printing

My printer prints fine, but sometime (mostly on red ) you will see a smudge. Sometimes they are small, but very noticeable, and it's in random areas of the printed paper. Does anyone have suggestions. Printing color 8.5 x 11 full page:
2.5 in from top of page I notice of pattern of nicks on the page 1/8 to 1/2 inch across the page mostly on the left 6 inches of the page

Smudges usually will indicate a drum problem (your toner cartridge) on a laser printer. If you pull it out you should see a flap that will move back and forth. Moving that flap will show you a cylinder which is the drum. If it looks worn, then it will have to be replaced. It may be hard to tell if the drum is worn down.

During the lifetime of the printer, the drum needs to be periodically replaced as its surface wears out and print quality deteriorates which is what is happening with your printer.

So you will need to try replacing the cartridge and see if that solves your problem, if it doesn't then you will have a spare and I can further direct you to what to look for.

please let me know how this goes and good luck

It sounds like the transfer roller might be damaged. How long have you had this printer, and has the fuser been replaced yet?

Take a look at Dell's Print Quality Problem guide. Do any of those pages look like your?

You can use the "Customer Mode" diagnostic menu on your printer to print a Print Quality test page in order to more accurately view the printing problem symptoms.

Check for any small paper jam. Check the rollers, also use an alcohol swab to clean the rollers and check for ink leaking. Check you ink pad, it could be time for a new one.

PRINTING IMAGES ON CD'S/DVD'S - SMUDGES / i865

After looking at a picture of the CD you were printing to, I see the problem. The printer is trying to print blue ink on the middle of the CD, where the hole is. The problem is, since there's a hole that ink is going through and getting onto the rollers in the printer. It's then transferring back to your media as it moves through the printer. It's C shaped because you're only printing on about half of the hole. There are two ways to fix this. Either put a round piece of tape over the hole to cover it (and thus the paper will be printed on), or change your image so it doesn't print to that part of the CD. I'd suggest the latter, as it will look neater when you're done.

Since conecting my Lexmark P4350 to a different pc it is sometimes only printing half a page and sometimes the print is smudged. can you suggest anything.

Make sure that the printer driver is properly installed. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark P4350 Printer Driver on your computer. Select your operating system > click on "FILTER" > click on the driver under Recommended Downloads > download and execute the file. After the install process is complete, try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Smudged on right side

If cleaning the print cartridge with the built in slide does not work then you can lightly shake it. it may need to be replaced. Also the cleaning of the drum with denatured alcohol will clear that up sometimes.

Xerox Phaser 8400N Printing Stripes

When you go into the eliminate light stripes there is also a mode called Jet Substitution. You can sometimes bypass the bad jets.
If that does not work then the print head will most likely need to be replaced.
You can replace the printer for less than the cost of a print head normally..
