I don't seem to have the pressure I had when I ferst got it

There are many possibilities. If you have an adjustable nozzle, be sure it is not in the "low" pressur mode. Second make sure screen where you connect garden hose is not clogged. The remaining items are a bit more complicated. If it is pulsating more that normal, you may have debris in one of the check valves. These pumps have 6 check valves. Three incoming three outgoing. If one of these doesn't close you loose 1/3 capacity. Another possibility is the packing on the pistons is worn not building enough pressure. Also the pressure regulator can be leaking keeping it from building pressure. Unless you're confident you can work on this, I wouldn't open the pump. Repair kits are not expensive that include wear items, but if you damage a pump they start at about 100.00 If you can get any numbers off the pump you can most likely find parts at www.pressure-washer-parts.com

I have a NorthStar M157471A. What weight oil goes in the pump?

I just answered that question on another thread... will repeat:

Oil used in engine is SAE30, I would suggest adding bit of Nulon or similiar Teflon based before even first run as it will extend life of the engine, This is air cooled Honda and therefore overheat easy.

Oil used in pump is Universal Tractor Transmission Oil.

Except two, all pumps are equiped with sight glass, fill as indicated on sight glass or dipstick.

To extend life of your equipment, change oil in both, engine and pump after 50hrs.

If you live in colder climates, where freezing is possible, do not forget to drain pump and high pressure hose from water to avoid winter damage.

Hope this will help keep your equipment in top notch for years to come:-)

I have a northstar pressure washer with a comet pump AXD 3020G that will not build up pressure, can you give me some ideas on what may be wrong ,I have checked the screen on the inlet ,it is clean

Normally, it is one of three things.

1.) The high pressure seals are bad

2.) There is debris in the check valves

3.) the unloader is stuck in by-pass.

Foaming in pump oil window

I dont know which comet pump you have, but it is just easier to get a new pump from one of the pressure washer companies on the internet and they sell them on ebay. You can also probably get a better pump that will fit your engine as well. Also, have you tried just changing the oil and not fill it too full? On my 5000 lb washer, if i fill the oil too high when I change the oil, it will foam some. Hope this helps you, Rick

Unable to start gas engine on a NorthStar pressure washer

Disassemble and clean the carb. If it ran briefly with the starer fluid then gasoline is not coming through the carb.
