Question about Computers & Internet

I have acer aspire 5040 Laptop computer and when i start it up it won't boot into windows as it has light blue screen and asks me to press F1 and shows resource Conflict pci on motherboard Bus 06 Device 06 Function 00 but when I do press for it to start normally nothing shows at all. I took it to be repaired at an electronic computer shop and they told me that there was a fault with a chip on motherboard and to send it to Acer. But I think it probably would be too expensive to repair as this laptop is second hand and about 2 years old.No warranty now. please advise me what I should do .

Re-install windows, then it will ask you for the Restore disk 1 then 2 then 3. I think the Ghost that is factory installed is a fars.
If it doesnt ask you for the Restore disks - just stick # 1 in and she'll tale over from there and re-write the Ghost issue again ...
I did that same for my Boss's 5040 last week. Dont forget to go into the Bios and reset the Boot sequense to CD Rom, and then
change the Booting sequense back after the restore has taken place.

Give it a shot Bud.

3. Once you are in the Safe mode Click "Administrator" on the Windows login screen.
Take note that you have set the Administrator password before, you need to input the changed password instead of leaving "Password" field blank.

Please tell how you install XP cuz i cant instal mine notebook same like yours Acer Aspire 5332

If you have the Windows XP install disk (and not an upgrade type) Simply enter your computers BIOS by pressing the key indicated when you first power the laptop on,(Try Delete, F1 F2) and make sure that in the boot order, the CD/DVD drive comes before the main HDD. Once you have the laptop set to boot from CD, insert the windows install disk and reboot the computer. It should say "Press any key to boot to CD/DVD....." Hit a key here, and then follow the on screen Windows installation instructions.

My Acer Aspire 1500 laptop wont pass startup.

It seems that your laptop hardware is good and it seems that it is a software issue.

  1. Boot in safe mode: When your laptop start, press the F8 key. then it will ask you which boot device to boot from, browse using the arrow keys and chose something with HDD and press ENTER and then press the F8 key again. Then you will be given a boot option and choose SAFE MODE.
  2. While in SAFE MODE, try to uninstall your newly installed software that might be causing the laptop to hung up.
  3. Also, click Start => Run then type: msconfig.
  4. Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck the many programs that looks not necessary to load while windows is loading. The program like Yahoo Messenger, Skype can be opened manually so uncheck them if present.
  5. Click Apply then OK.
  6. Restart your laptop and see if it helps.

Sounds like the HAL.DLL problem that I have with my Aspire One.
Try booting off a genuine Windows XP disc and choosing the 'recovery console' option. At the command line, type 'CHKDSK C:' and press Enter. If you're lucky, that will do the trick.

I can not get my Acer Aspire 5920 to load after turning on.

Try to see if it will boot in safe mode, by pressing F8 while the laptop boots up. If it allows you to boot in safe mode, try to do a system restore when you know that laptop was working with no problems. You can do this by clicking on start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a date and time when you know that the laptop was working with no problems. If this does not work or you cannot boot in safe mode (be aware that everything will look big in safe mode and when the computer reboots if asked how you want to start windows, choose start windows normally), try doing a recovery. This will restore your computer to the factory default settings when you purchased it. You can do this by booting the computer, when the acer screen appears hold down the ALT key and continuously press F10, this will open the recovery manager and you can restore it from there.

I hope this helps
