Your heads are bad. If the Windows Install disk does not let you format (Or disk manager if it is a secondary HD) then you need to contact the manufacturer to RMA the drive

you could do it by reformatting your hard drive which would mean loading your operating system again during the formatting process you will be given the option to select a partition or to select another or resize or download some software either partition magic which enables you to rezize your your already partitioned hard drive without losing any of you data http://www.filehoo.com/download/Partition-Magic-8,0.aspx when you download partition magic you will have the option to make rescue to disks to boot from make these disks then change your first boot device your to floppy drive this will give you options to partition then partition only the good sectors of your hard drive and install an operating system to the good partition
Partition Magic 8.0 description

Want to replace 80Gb HDD with a bigger one. How? Do I have to copy everything from the original one to the new one before actually replacing it? how?

Hi there,
Before you change the 80 GB Hard Drive you can take the backup of your hard drive to the External Hard Drive or if you have any sata case so you put your new hard Drive in the sata case and make 2-3 partitions in the new drive and copy your data in the new hard drive except in first partition which will be primary C Drive for your laptop and will replace data when you install windows in it. after the windows is installed and your data is verified in your new hard drive you can clear your old hard Drive or use it as an External Hard Drive (as you like )
2nd thing which is more safer and reliable is that you make backup CD/DVDs for your data before proceed to formatting or even changing hard drives, it will be very useful and helpful for any unforeseen data loss
if you require more assistance regarding this feel free to reply to this post

Hdd power problem

Hi!

Check your HDD with HDD monitor utility to see if it's ok. You can try this one:
http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-disk-health-monitoring-utility.htm
If your HDD has bad SMART or power controller or smth like that - then you definitely need to replace HDD.
Also issue may be caused by your PC power supply or motherboard power controller. If HDD monitor shows that your hard drive is "alive", then try to "hang" your HDD to another power cord from your PC power supply and try to connect to other IDE/SATA port on your motherboard.

Also I'd suggest you to try your HDD on any other PC.

My seagate barracuda 7200.7 st380011A 80gb when i use it as primary haerd dist operating system is not supporting it but when i use another hard disk as primary and it as secondary it is properly working....

i think you must place a jumper on the back side of the hdd.
If there isn't any jumper, it is a "slave".

When you place a jumper on the correct spot, the hard drive will become the master hdd. The position of the jumper can be found on the hdd itself.

Search for "master" and put the jumper there
