Question about Husqvarna Designer I
I have not been able to get nice lettering on sweatshirts since I bought this machine. Once in a while I will get lucky with a certain font especially if I do the letters twice but most of the time they are so rough looking i end up pitching in. Any suggestions
Are you sizing the lettering outside the recommended parameters? Quality can suffer if you do that. I presume we are talking about embroidering words using the fonts in 3D or 4D software??? Or do you mean the alphabets from the Menus built-in to the SE?
A layer of stabilizer on top of the lettering in a really good idea for anything with any loft i.e. sweatshirts, towels etc. Use a wash-away such as Solvy or Vilene 541. Make sure you are using your SE's Embroidery Advisor to automatically set tensions for that fabric, and use whatever foot the Advisor recommends.

This may be your stabilizer. What kind are you using?
A good, solid foundation is important. If the fabric is allowed to stretch or move your embroidery will always be poor. Sweatshirts require considerable stabilization because they are very stretchy.
If the sweatshirt is a high loft fleece you may also want a stabilizer on the top of your fabric.
Try stitching the same letters on a piece of cotton fabric with a heavy tear away or cut away stabilizer. If it looks okay on that, it will look okay on the sweatshirt once it is stabilized.
