Question about Husqvarna Designer I

2 Answers

Designer SE - My lettering looks terrible - jagged and twisted.

I have not been able to get nice lettering on sweatshirts since I bought this machine. Once in a while I will get lucky with a certain font especially if I do the letters twice but most of the time they are so rough looking i end up pitching in. Any suggestions

Are you sizing the lettering outside the recommended parameters? Quality can suffer if you do that. I presume we are talking about embroidering words using the fonts in 3D or 4D software??? Or do you mean the alphabets from the Menus built-in to the SE?

A layer of stabilizer on top of the lettering in a really good idea for anything with any loft i.e. sweatshirts, towels etc. Use a wash-away such as Solvy or Vilene 541. Make sure you are using your SE's Embroidery Advisor to automatically set tensions for that fabric, and use whatever foot the Advisor recommends.

This may be your stabilizer. What kind are you using?
A good, solid foundation is important. If the fabric is allowed to stretch or move your embroidery will always be poor. Sweatshirts require considerable stabilization because they are very stretchy.
If the sweatshirt is a high loft fleece you may also want a stabilizer on the top of your fabric.
Try stitching the same letters on a piece of cotton fabric with a heavy tear away or cut away stabilizer. If it looks okay on that, it will look okay on the sweatshirt once it is stabilized.

Need a service manual for a viking SE sewing machine

..

Service and repair manuals are difficult to find as the manufacturers are reluctant to make that information available to the public. However, sometimes you will find them for sale on sites like eBay. If you also search the internet for parts diagrams you may find some information to help figure out where things belong.

There is also this site (I have no experience with it):

How do you change the needleplate?

Remove the bobbin case clear cover. For the older Designer 1 and Designer SE series you pull the plate toward you and it will come out. There is a slot at the back of the plate that you can insert a small screw driver tip to push it forward by twisting the screw driver. If it is a Diamond, Sapphire, Ruby, or Topaz, you lift up on the plate from the front, inserting the tip of a small screw driver in the front.

Viking designer se screen is stuck in welcome screen when turned on. update did not help me! my steps: 1turn on Designer SE le and connect to computer. 2install Designer SE 3D embroidery Software...

I purchased my designer se in 2006, and the frozen screen happened for the first time tonight as I was installing fonts on the machine. I did as suggested...got into update mode and installed the latest update and it worked! Thanks so much. I thought I would have to pay a lot of money to have the problem resolved. I am a happy DSE owner.

My HP pavillion, window 7 cannot find the designer

You need to reinstall them, they will be on the communication disk that came with your machine or the 4D software cd if you purchased that.

My Viking Designer SE Bobbin does not stop winding

I have a Designer Topaz, very similar to yours. There is a small eccentric-shaped piece that rides the thread as the bobbin is filling. On my machine, it can be turned via the little star shaped "torx" depression. This determines the point at which the drive disengages the winding process. In the alternative, when the bobbin is as full as you want it, just push the rider away from the bobbin; the same effect is achieved.

UNABLE TO UPLOAD SOFTWARE FOR MY NEW HUSKVARNA VIKING LIMITED EDITION SE

I don't have an SE (I have a Designer 1) but I know uploading the machine software on an SE can be tricky. There are some useful Help files on the Husqvarna website - go check them out and see if that solves your problem.
