The problem your are encountering is often caused as a result of an exhausted battery. If you cannot power on the GoGear, charge the battery with the supplied charger.

If this isn't the case then there is an error preventing the player from powering on and this cannot be cleared by resetting

The errors need to be fixed by using the "Firmware Manager." The Firmware Manager is a computer program that restores your device to their factory conditions. You will be able to use your device again after restoring it to factory conditions, but you will lose all of the data on your GoGear.

To use the Firmware Manager, open the installation CD supplied with your GoGear and follow the onscreen instructions to install the Firmware Manager on your computer. Plug the GoGear into the computer and check that your computer is connected to the Internet. Open "Firmware Manager" on your computer. You will be prompted to "Restore" the firmware or "Update" the firmware. Since you need to restore your device to working order, select the "Restore Firmware" option. Updating the firmware will not delete the files or errors that are causing the GoGear to malfunction.

Once the process is complete and your GoGear can power on again, consider updating the firmware. Updates give your device extra functionality and repair errors in the device.

Turn off

Hello,

When you have the GoGear SA6045, see page 8 of the controls in this manual:
http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/s/sa6045_02/sa6045_02_dfu_eng.pdf
PDF files can be read with Adobe Reader and saved to a location onto your computer for later use.
When using the OFF function on your player doesn't work, a RESET mostly helps.

When you have another model than the picture shows, reveal your model number in this problem thread.

Hello :

I recommend you to reset it before you start to update . If that didn't help , then I would recommend check the USB connections . Maybe they are loose .

The gogear sa6045 is not registering on my computer

Get the software from www.usasupport.philips.com

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

There is a program on the installation CD called the Philips Device Manager - it has a Repair option. If you have lost the CD, you can get the Device Manager from Philips website.

Philips GOGEAR SA6045 MP3 Player doesnt register.

I worked on this thing (sa6045) for three hours................no luck. Finally got a fix.....Go to programs add/remove menu under control panel and delete Philips device manager. Then go to Philips site and download new driver:http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=US&slg=AEN&mid=Link_Software&cat=MP3_PLAYERS_CA&sct=SU00304_SU&grp=PORTABLE_ENTERTAINMENT_GR&session=20080506223817_68.47.250.64&ctn=SA6045/37&dct=PAL&did=AEN&file=/files/s/sa6045_37/sa6045_37_dmr_aen.htm

Install your new driver and be SURE windows media player is not running or trying to sync.If it is running in background philips device manager will not work.Once new driver is installed you can pull up the repair panel and do a hard reset thru software on your Sa6045.

Good Luck
