There is no set-up disc for the PS3, just a recovery menu where everything can be put back to factory settings. I assume this is what you are wanting to do?

If so then follow these steps :

Step 1. Turn your PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Step 2. Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later and then beep once more and turn off. Release the power button.

Step 3. Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, beep 5 seconds later and then there will be 2 quick beeps together. Release the power button when you hear these 2 beeps.

Step 4. The PS3 will start up asking you to connect a controller via USB and press the PS button. Do this and then go onto the next step.

Step 5. A menu will load. Select option 5 "Restore PS3 system". The console will ask you if you are sure, just accept and then the PS3 will restart. All the original software will be loaded and you will need to enter the date and time and other details.

When you have done all this your PS3 should be back to standard settings.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

How can I fix 8002F334 error in my ps3

I've seen this error code going around for the older PS3's. From what I can gather, it's a HDD issue that can't be cured easily. Here are the steps to take that I found, that seem to work for all PS3 systems.
  • take out the hard drive
  • connect hard drive to pc (running windows 7 64bit, but any windows os should work without other software)
  • open up disk management - in win7 it asked me to make a master boot record, so I did.
  • format in NTSF - that's right, NTSF - don't use quick format
  • shut down pc, take out hd, take usb drive too
  • put hd back in ps3, put usb stick in ps3
  • boot ps3
  • a screen will pop-up saying the hard disk have to be formatted
  • hold start + Select for 5 sec.
  • After formatting the system will restart and the update will start installing
  • configure your ps3 setup - done
  • Remember to get the latest firmware from SONY onto the USB drive.

Playstation 3 hard disk files corrupted???

hey ash,

ps3 Hard drive needs to be manually reformatted and checked for bad sectors.

as what youve said, you already formatted it and yet it still says there is a corrupt system file.

when i say "manually formatted" you have to clearly take the hard drive out and format it using another pc or ps3.

Its telling me the hard disc is corrupt and is reloading it but it doesn't fix it and takes ages but is the same

Your hard drive has a problem and needs to be formatted. this has happened to me twice already but not with the original hard drive that came with the ps3, I changed mine to a 500 gig drive which had the problems.

the bad news is that you have lost everything that you saved onto the drive and need to reformat and reinstall the ps3 operating system.

If you go through the system settings there is an option to format the drive. Do that.
Then you need to get a USB flash drive, and follow the steps below

Download the update and save the file to a compatible storage device such as Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, a USB or PSP.

Before starting, use your PC to create a folder named "PS3" in the storage media or USB. In this folder, create a folder named "UPDATE" (the folder name is case sensitive and must appear in capital letters). Once the UPDATE folder is created, download and store the update for PS3 system software.

Once the update saved, remove the storage media and connect to your PS3 via the slots under the slot cover, or USB, depending on the storage medium used.

Once the storage media connected, go to Settings on the home menu of the PS3, select System Update, then update via Storage Media. Select the storage media connected to the PS3 installs the update data stored there.

Good luck.

Cant play computer disks such as pictures

Computer disc are written in a format that PS3's read, if you want to play photos or what not you need to burn your disc using like Nero or Power DVD to say the least, you need to select picture CD not DATA or otherwise.

If your doing music you need to burn using make music CD not just drag and drop.

Try burning using picture CD format then update me with any questions you may have or problems that may arise from this solution.

Hint!

If you got a SD CARD you can put the photos on it and the ps3 will pick those up just fine!

Let me know how it works out.

Thanks

Playstation 3 screen says " cannot start, the correct hard disk was not found." after turned on. will do nothing else. any ideas?

A long shot but it sounds like your hard drive has basically "switched off". If you have a USB sata hard drive dock I can help but its a bit of a complicated process. You need to remove the hard drive from the PS3 and plug it into the USB sata dock then connect it to your computer. Goto Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Managment. Look in the lower area of the screen that appears for your PS3 drive, probably E:, and look if it says "Not initialized". If it does, right click where it says that then click Initialize Disk. Put it back in your PS3 when it is done and hopefully it will turn back on. You will lose all saved data though as the hard drive will need to be formatted.

Hope this helps

Trying to upgrade my hard drive to 250gb. PS3 will not recognise new hard drive even after I format it to FAT32 on a computer. When I put new hard drive into the PS3 it tells me to format hard drive and if...

If your PS3 is telling you to format your hard drive, then it is recognizing it. You have to reformat the hard drive using the PS3, not your computer. If you don't have the option of formatting your hard drive then you may have to download an update from Sony and then run that disc to format the hard drive. Some of the updates will completely erase all saves, downloads, & etc when done from a disc. So be sure to use this with your new hard drive in the PS3, just to be sure not to lose all your stuff on your old hard drive. Sony has a "walk-thru" on these things on their website.

My ps3 keeps on frezing whe am playing games

Could be the laser not being able to read the discs or the graphics chip developing a fault. Make sure your discs are clean.
If it is the laser having problems reading the discs, you can put your ear to the console and hear it skipping and struggling to read the disc.
If the disc isn't struggling to read, it will be the graphics chip freezing because of bad solder joints.

Computer crashed

have you tried using "LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION"?When you first turn it on keep hitting "F8",use the arrow keys to go to last known good configuration then click enter. If it does do the same thing you can reload OS without losing all data, dont partition or format just reload OS but some third party programs wont work because files are loaded into the windows folder. You would have to reload third party programs.
