Hello sharprobbed,

Its most likely a problem with the powerboard. It could be that some capacitors/resistors or any one of many components could be bust. If you are experienced in soldering/desoldering, you may want to have a go at it. However, it is always best to leave this in the hands of a professional. And also, if your TV is under warranty, it is better you dont try any fix it yourself stuff, or you could void the warranty.
The power board is (generally) the board which hold the sockets where TV's power cord is attached. But based on this long distance evaluation, it is difficult to say exactly what is wrong or which part(s) are defective without actually seeing the boards. However, I'd say the power board would be the number 1 suspect.
If you really would like to try a fix-it -yourself, I recommend you visit http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
This is the blurb or their website:
"We have been repairing televisons for over twenty years. We are now offering a service for UNLIMITED online support along with a service manual so we can work together at diagnosing your problem. Just click on your manual to add it to your cart. Youre paying for unlimited support not the manual. All manuals will be emailed to the address you register with, and all manuals will be emailed within minutes of placeing your order. Along with each manual you will have unlimited professional support so you can diagnose and repair your television yourself. We will even provide you the links to purchase any parts that you may require. So if youre tired of paying astronomical prices just for someone to look at your set, you've come to the right place. Look forward to diagnosing with you."
It is better to have someone guiding you every step of the way while attempting a fix like this, if you don't have prior experience.

Well, hope that helps, and good luck!

Here are some other tips you can try..

    1. Try this - hold the menu button down for 10 seconds. TV
should hopefully power up; you will have to turn off front panel buttons on menu.

    2. You can also try plugging in the TV through the USB on its panel to a
computer or USB charger, and it may work. However, this is only a temporary
    solution.

    3. Powering down the set or putting it in standby may have
allowed the power supply to cool. Weak capacitors often go out of spec when
they cool, thus preventing a section of the power supply from firing up
properly again. There is a simple trick...just warm the back of the TV with a
hair dryer for 5-7 mins after you have unplugged the TV. Look for the little
areas of holes in the back panel of TV. Use these as your guide at where to use
the hairdryer, but don't hold the dryer too close (say 5-6inches away). (Make
sure the dryer is on High heat). If the TV doesn't turn on after you have
heated it up (like it tries to come on but then turns off) you need to unplug
the TV again, this resets it. And repeat those steps till it works. Resetting
the TV after it fails to turn on is the key. Also, just leave the TV on. Don't
turn in off. Since it is LCD, it doesn't take much power...only a few bucks
extra a month for your utility bill.

The unit input 3 in composit input directly to the av pwb. input 4 and 5 are hdmi and go thru main digital bd. If the composit inputs work and the hdmi's don't you most likely have a defective main digital pcb.

First of all, how old is the set? Before you open it up, if less than 1 year old, it should still be under warranty. If under warranty, opening up the unit will VOID the warranty. These sets are somewhat sensitive to power glitches. If you have no experience with elextronics, you should bring the set in for repair. If you feel confident working on the set, you will need to contact a Sharp parts distributor for the part number and cost. This module is likely to be over $100, so I'd be sure that that is the problem. Also, check to be sure that all of the cabling is in good shape.

To find out the power board you have to open the case and follow the power cable to the board, as other expert is saying it is better to give to some professional for repair

The powerboard is where the power goes in.

in some cases you might need to replace the mainboard and the powerboard to get this issue solved.

more detailed info would be available in a service manual, I beleave you can get one from Sharp. I'l have a look if I can get my hands on a copy.

Sharp Aquos LC45GX6U & TU-GD10U. The unit doesn't power up, and has a red blinking light from the moment you plug it in. The unit works fine in service mode.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Display powers of with power up of AVC

how many blinks does the red light give in a row? This would be an error code?

The problem for 7 blinks would be an Interface board. Apparently there is a glitch in the interface board that sends signals to the television. Basically the glitch shorts out the board and the t.v wont turn on and you will see the power light blink 7 times pause then 7 more. You can replace the board with a new one and update the software on the new interface board.

If is isn't 7, let me know and I will help you out with this

thanks

Display powers of with power up of AVC

This is the problem with my LC-37HV4U. I plug in the AVC and the tv/monitor and I get both red power lights (not blinking) but no green lights, sound, or picture. I mean the tv screen stays black! It seems like their is no communication between the AVC and the monitor. I thought at least the screen would light up when the power light came on and being it has it's own power source. This tv is driving me nuts!! Can anyone please help?? Thank you.
