Lexmark z845 ink refill problem

Plz can u help ive refilled my colour and black cartridges but when ive replaced them the ink level is still saying they are out of ink

Now on my second (full) black cartridge and it keeps showing ink empty - after it printed one page, perfectly fine. Uninstalled and reinstalled the vista driver, no help. It tries to print, just no ink coming out.

Just figured out that if you go to control panel, change print quality to something better, it prints. Still shows no ink, though.

I tried to refill mine, but now it thinks it's totally empty and cancels my print job.
refill kits are a waste of time and money.

Refilling cartridges

For that printer: there are 4 color and 4 black cartridges BESIDES the #31 photo cartridge. Lexmark has made it so you MUST either, throw away or send to them, the 36 and 37, the 36XL and 37XL. The printer will never again recognize them after they are removed from the printer...
However, the 36XLA and 37XLA AND the 36A and 37A as well as the 31 Photo may be removed from the printer, refilled, and reinstalled.

I have seen some forums that say you can but a piece of BLACK tape, across the bottom row of contacts on the non-refillable cartridges....I believe there are 4 to 7 contacts across the bottom row only.....and the printer will still give you a message that it needs ink.....but it WILL print. I have not tested this theory yet though. I have just gotten the first message saying my black ink is very low.

Hope this helps and I think Lexmark Corporation Sucks for tricking people like this. (This printer comes with the NON refillable cartridges as default, but I did NOT see in the documentation that it couldn't be refilled. Nasty people........:(

Good Luck~~! mstipps@yahoo.com

Is it possible to refill ink cartridge on Lexmark x6690 printer?

Take out all cartridges, switch printer off and then on again and let printer see that there are no cartridges. Do this 5 times, it resets the cartridges. Then install refilled cartridges

Printer cartridge is a refill and does not seem to be recognized

Maybe you can try to reset the black ink level 1st. To reset the ink level:
1) Goto the Lexmark Solution Center application.
2) Press button Maintenance>Install a new print cartridge, follow the instruction on screen. U may then have your new full ink level. Note: u only can reset to full level, cannot customize the level by your own.
Hope this help.

Using refill cartridges

That is because they cannot e refilled. The ones you get with your printer ( 28 & 29) are what Lexmark calls "return program cartridges", which means they are for one use only.
I suggest you buy other cartridges that can be refilled. Those are either 28A or 34 (black cartridge) and 29A or 35 (color cartridge).
Here is a link to Lexmark's site, where you can see the list of cartridges that are compatible with your printer.

Hope that helps!

The only work around to this is to use two catridges(2 color and 2 black and white). The reason is the printer has a mechanism to check if the same catridge is being used again. SO when you have two cartridges when one is finished refill the other and use and vice-versa. This way you will be able to refill and use for ever without any problems..
