Water Inlet Valve
First you will need to completely remove both hoses. Check and clean the screens in the hoses. Next look in the back of the water inlet valve the screens can usually be pulled out and cleaned. If all is clean and still no water, check to make sure the water inlet valve is getting power when the washer is in a fill cycle. If it does replace the water inlet valve.

Water Inlet Valve
First check the hoses that connect to the water inlet valve. Remove these completely there should be a screen in at least one end and maybe both ends. Clean these screens. Next check the back of the water inlet valve screens and remove and clean. If cleaning these out does not correct the problem you will need to check to make sure you have power going to the water inlet valve. Most top loaders will have 120 volts going to the valve. Check each solenoid on the valve. You will need to have the washer on and turned to a fill cycle when checking. If you have power and still no water replace the water inlet valve. No power replace the control.

Control / Timer

This is less likely the problem but can fail. If you have no power going to the water inlet valve when selecting a fill cycle the timer/ control has failed and you will need to replace the timer.

Cold water rinse takes hours to fill

Check to see if there's good water volume coming through the hoses attached to the washing machine. If there is, check to see if the screens inside the water-inlet valve are clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If they're clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you should completely replace the valve.Replace the water inlet valve with this part.

My amana lw9103 fills cold water very very slowly. I just checked inside the hose and it is clean. What can it be?

The inlet filter is blocked or the inlet valve is faultyand not opening as required. So trace the valve at the inlet of the water hose , you can see a filter attached to the front end.
now clean and set the filter, if not check the voltage on the valve , if low check controller, if not the valve can be cleaned or replaced accordingly

I want to clean my water inlet valve but i can't take the top off the washer

It appears the valve is accessable from the back rear, not the top.

Go to Sears Parts Direct and enter your model number for exploded view details.

Normally you would clean this valve by turning the water off, moving the washer away from the wall, then disconnecting the hoses and cleaning the screens in either the hose ends or the valve inlet connection.

The valve(s) are not usually serviceable.

Washer doesnt take hot water

All the symptoms described are typical of a water inlet valve that has either become clogged with sediment or has a solenoid failure. You can elect to replace the water inlet valve, or attempt to clean. Cleaning requires shutting off the water source and disconnecting the inlet hoses. Check the sediment screens in the water inlet valve and clean with cotton swabs and distilled vinger. Place the hoses in the wash tub and turn on the water supply to make sure the hoses are clog free. Sometimes a good cleaning can help. However, the majority of the cases involve replacing the valve. The following link explains how:

I hope this information is helpful. Anyone with questions are encouraged to post back and let me know.

How do you easily clean inlet valve?

First check if your faucet has good pressure (clean small screens); if this does not solve your problem simply change your inlet valve.
