Question about Televison & Video
It appears that the tuner is no longer operational. Open the tv and test the voltages at the tuner - if they don't change when you change channels then the control processor is dead. On such an old tv finding a replacement will be difficult.
If the voltages do change then the tuner is dead - replace it.

Sounds like a fault with the audio/video amplifier circuit that picks up the signal from the source. Did you try a different source such as DVD player to see if the problem persists?
