Question about Kohler Plumbing

Open Question

Kohler Faucet Model R10430-N-CP The diverter (item #758787) went bad on the faucet. Received the part from Kohler, but don't know how to remove part from inside the body assembly kit. I was told by the customer care center to remove the diverter with a pair of needle nosed pliers, but seems to be jammed inside. Am I doing something wrong or am I just supposed to grab this part and pull it out as hard as I can? I also asked the customer care center where the retaining ring #75564 is located, because by the directions I have, the part seems to be just above what I am trying to remove, but I do not see the retaining ring. Thanks.

SOURCE: Repair cartridge in Moen Monticello single handle lavatory faucet

After some additional experimenting, contrary to information I was previously able to gather, I discovered that the white plastic retainer doesn't (in this type of Moen faucet) actually screw off but rather is held in place by a spring clip inserted from the rear of the retainer (toward the wall side of the basing). Simply sticking a small screwdriver in the opening (approx. 45 degrees downward) and tipping the screwdriver toward the front of the faucet, snaps the spring clip out through the opening.
The plastic retainer than lifts off. Note: the flat sides on the retainer suggest that a wrench will be needed but such is not the case.

Sounds like the diverter is not working properly. It is located in the spout and it maybe sticking or bad. Go to link below for a installation guide with parts break down. Click on installer's and designer's bar below picture of faucet for a diagram of faucet that may help you out.

Begin by shutting off the water to the faucet. Then, on the back of the handle you will find a small button. remove it with a small knife blade and underneath you will see a 1/8" set screw. Use a 1/8" inch allen wrench to remove the set screw. You can then unscrew the bonnet and remove the diverter. Take the diverter to a hardware store or plumbing supply to purchase the appropriate repair kit. goodluck.
