Well, if the cradle is stuck due to cleaning station not working, then you will need to back off motor to unlock and move cradle, problem is this is a worm gear drive, and really small movements when turning motor, this will require taking covers off of machine as well as possible removing carraige assembly. since the screw that holds the cleaning station in, is under carraige unit. might want to think about taking machine apart first, having enough desk space and patience.

Ink cartridge stuck on left side in cradle and will not release

Take the cradle out of the printer, using a flat blade screwdriver prise up on the left corner of the toner cartridge and pull toner cartridge from the right hand side.

the problem is cause when the toner cartridge in install incorrectly, inserting at an angle to the leftside first and so the toner trap door does not rotate.

The correct way, is to place the cartidge on the cradle and press from the centre down on the toner body.

The cradle is stuck

Fixed it myself...found this link:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00738923&dlc=en&product=443024

It would print the Tap Test as instructed in this illustration....but then wouldn't move to print anything else. So redid the Tap Test several times....then I lifted the lid while printing a test page so the cartridge was in the center and I could get ahold of it to slide it....left the printer ON, but unplugged the power cable...and then I was able to move the cartridge back and forth. I then took QTips with Windex on them and cleaned the silver bar the cartridge moves on. Got a lot of ink off of it.
A couple more test prints...and sliding the cartridge......and it is finally running again.

Print cartridge cradle is stuck ican't find where it is jammed

This might help . . . Mine finished printing one doc & then made a terrible noise & sent a message to my screen that "print cartridge cradle is stuck." When i opened door, i could see it was stuck off to the left side so left cartridge was obscured. I could not get it to budge, although i kept turning it off, gently pushing & turning it back on. Finally, i got my hand inside & determined that the little door to the left-side cartridge had popped open & was causing it to remain stuck. After some struggles (turn off printer first!) i was able to maneuver it around & close it tight. Now, all is well . . .

Print cartridge cradle stuck there was a paper jam. That was cleared, but now it says the cradle is stuck and the paper does not feed please help

There seems to be a problem with the cradle not "lifting" itself up and over what appears to be some sort of guide. Rock the cradle gently back by hand (it will only move a few millimeters) and move it all the way to the right into its bay. Cycle the printer power and it should be fine.

I have had this problem with my 7550 for a while now and I finally found this on the HP website and it seems to have fixed my problem, I also replaced all of the cartridges:

Issue While printing from an HP Photosmart printer, the printer screen displays Print cartridge cradle is stuck / clear jam and then press OK . The printer may also make grinding sounds. Cartridge cradle stuck

Hey chips 53 Very simple, Go to the market and purchase a set of screw driver of long sleek neck (for star screw). and open the four screw present four different side in the printer. After open the screw, open that door, from where you insert the cartridge. insert your hand into the printer and lift the portion upside. Remember you have to lift equally (but slowly-slowly) if you see that the upper body is separating, you have to concentrate to lift the portion from right side because wires has been attached left side. After removing the upper portion you can easily move the carriage. And do what you want
