Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer
I am getting error code f-21 and 5d on mi washing machine ,I check drainer hose it looks like to be draining ok.
FYI: The pump cleanout is located on the front of the machine, bottom right corner. There are only three screws holding the bottom cover on. It is easy to get to if you prop it up a few inches off the ground. Just thought this would be helpful as I just did this as of 5 min ago. Should take 10 min. or less.

I am TIRED of my Whirlpool Duet. It's the worst washer I have ever owned! I am tired of searching the internet every time I get a new error code, tired of cleaning the drain pipe, tired of re-inserting the plug in the back (due to excessive vibration), tired of hearing coins and got knows what else rattle when it's spinning. First thing Monday morning, I am getting me the "old-fashioned" style washer. Duet is HORRIBLE!

We received the same code of s5 and it not spinning out. We took the front cover on the bottom off and cleaned the drain. We found 2 small barrets, bobbi pin, part to a door, a 22 bullet, a bit, 40 coins and my thong panties! With a lot of lint and hair. UGH! We will be cleaning that more regularly! THANK!

I too had the 5d code but I just fixed my washer thanks to the above posts! It was a clogged drain plug. I found 2 socks, a couple bucks in change, a tie pin and a gold braclet, a marker and a crayon. Jeeze!!

Thanks for all the advice. I checked my lint filter and and found: approx 75 coins (no kidding), bobby pin, 3 marbles, 4 airsoft BBs, 1 small nail, 1 childs ring, a few pieces of gravel and other misc items all bound tightly together in lint and silt. I can't believe the unit was washing at all. Looks my problem is solved.

Thanks for the tips on here. I am not mechanically inclined at all but with all the great info here, I was able to clear ours out - final tally 13 coins, 2 little girls socks, and eyeglass cleaning cloth, a doll's bib, and some miscellaneous junk - unreal!!! Hex nuts on the front of the machine are 1/4" to get the lower panel off. This info helped too - there's a link down a bit for a repair manual for older models that was helpful.

I hate my Whirlpool Duet Sport. I had all these problems (S5 error code, door not unlocking, etc.) and had the service company out to look at it SEVEN times in the first 2 years! Finally the warranty company sent me a refund of the replacement value.

Thanks for the posts everyone. Our washer exhibited the error code 21. I cleaned the washer trap and thought great this is fixed. Started the washer and then got the error code 5sd. Hmmm, wife had added more detergent ( HE of course ). Unplugged washer for a few minutes, tried rinse cycle and nothing! Just error code 5sd.
Back to square one. When I reopened the trap I tried spinning the impeller on the the drain pump attached to the trap. Though it turned it did so reluctantly. Managed to get one finger inside impeller housing and felt a bobby pin stuck between the side of the impeller and the impeller housing. Removed pump ( that was fun ) gave it a good shake and out popped the friggin bobby pin.
Put everything back together and now I\'m running the rinse and spin cycle to get rid of any excess detergent. She\'s back up and running!
So please double check the free movement of the impeller when you\'ve got the trap out. It may save you this added aggravation.
Thanks Again to everyone who posted their solutions.

F21 According to Whirlpool:
"This error code indicates that drain times are longer than expected.
Is the drain hose kinked or clogged?
Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or clogged. Straighten the hose for adequate water flow. Remove any blockage from the drain hose, drainpipe or utility sink. Use the U-shaped drain hose form on the drain hose, and secure the drain hose. See the Installation Instructions for details; find them by entering your model number in the search tool below."
"Are you using HE High Efficiency detergent?
Use only HE High Efficiency detergent. Using non-HE detergent, or more than the manufacturer's recommended amount of detergent, can cause excessive suds. The excess suds will slow or stop the removal of water from the washer.
Concentrated detergents labeled 2x and higher will require a small amount of detergent based on load size. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations."
