Ice build u p and leakage in freezer

you have a blocked drain in the freezer, when the machine goes into defrost the heater comes on and melts the frost off of the evaporator coil, the water melts and goes down the drain hose under the coil and leaks down to a drip pan near the compressor where it evaporates from the heat, your drain is blocked and the water is leaking onto the freezer floor and will drip out onto the floor,i use a steemer to blow out the drain line, shut down the machine or unplug it,melt out all the ice with hair dryer, depending on your model you might have to remove the back inside wall of the freezer to get at drain hole, you need something to push the **** out the drain hose, you can try a turkey baster or air from a compressor or a shop vac set it to blow, when you think it's clear pour a cup of hot water into the drain,if it drains down you're done if not keep hitting it with heat and air to push it through.

Water accumulating under veg.bins. Do not have ice maker hooked up. Whirlpool ET20DKXXN10 Model Mfg. date 1992.

you have a blocked drain in the freezer.when the machine goes into defrost a heater comes on and melts any ice that built up on the evap coil, the ice melts and goes down the drain and into a pan at the bottom where the compressor and condenser coil is and evaporates from the heat, your drain is blocked so the water can't go down the drain and it has nowhere to go but down into the fridge section.unplug the machine, remove all the food out of the freezer, remove the shelf and the inside back wall of the might have to heat up the back panel with a hair dryer to get the wall out, when you have the back wall off melt any ice with the hair dryer, now you have to clear the drain,i use a steemer to blow down the drain but if you don't have a steemer stick a screw driver into the hole and the metal on the driver will heat up and help melt the ice, when you think the ice is melted in the hole get a turkey baster or something that will blow or push anything in the drain out, then pour hot water into the hole,if the water drains down then you're done if not keep hitting it with heat and hot water and try to clear the drain.hope this helps.

Water accumulates in the bottom of the freezer, model FRS26ZRG, then melts out onto the floor

the water drain is clogged, when a freezer goes in to a defrosting cycle it MELTS the excessive ice build up and the water drains throug a drain (usually in the back of the freezer) than goes in to a pan under the freezer to evaporate until the next defrosting cycle, so check the pan if it's not full of dust or debrie (cat toy HA!) as well...

HI, the freezer is tripping out the fuse box and there is a burnt and melted area on the plug that goes on to the 'black bottle' in the bottom of the freezer. is it possible to get a replacement...

just replace the plug as you would any appliance that comes without one.a loose connection/socket is a prime fault for heat buildup and cause the connection to melt.

I have water comming out of the freezer at times and a pool below the bottom shelf.

You drain has frozen up probably because of a clog. Take the bottom door out and right at the rear bottom of the freezer back in the middle you sill see a drain. When the freezer goes in deefrost the frost will melt on the evaporaterr lines and must go down under the freezer yours does not and when the freezer comes on that water freezes. next time it defrost it heats that ice and the melted water come out the front of he door. clean that drain.

Whirlpool mod#et18pkxgwu top freezer,no ice maker. water leaks from freezer down intt the bottom ver. bins.

The Water is coming from the defrost cycle melting the ice on the evap coil.  There is a drain that goes to a tray near the compressor where the heat from the compressor evaporates the water.  That drain is clogged.  Take the back panel off of the freezer and unclog the drain hole.  Most of the time it is iced over and the ice needs to be melted.  It could also  be clogged where it comes out at the compressor.

Water from defros goes to the bottome of refrigerator

the drain from the freezer can get stuck with ice or other stuff. The tough part is removing the cover from the freezer to expose the coils and the drain. Check the defrost coil while you're there, I use a hair dryer to melt the ice.

It sounds like the freezer drain is plugged up. When the frig goes into the defrost stage it melts the frost biuldup on the evaporator and the melted frost goes down a drain that is behind the evaopator cover. When this dran is plugged the water has no place to go and over several defrost cyles will actually run into the bottom of the freezer section. When the defrost cycle is over and the frig starts cooling again, the water freezes in the bottom of the freezer.

When the freezer goes into defrost mode, some thumping/popping noises can sometimes be heard as the defrost heater melts the ice built up on the evaporator. Quite normal.
