I have a Brother Cassette Typewriter Model # L 10 Plus 3 serial number J01631776. We have lost our power cable to this typewriter and would like to purchase a new one. Where can I order a new power cable and what will the cost of the cable amount to? Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately your machine is a little old. It is this one? :

I doubt very much you will find a new one anywhere.
Unless you can find one on e-bay or similar website, I'd suggest a visit to a local TV repairman to build you a suitable power supply. Alternatively, building one is not complicated. If you can post an image of the power input connector on the machine and the power requirements as printed on the back I can draw up a diagram and how-to so that you can build the supply yourself.

To print from your machine
1. If you are printing from battery power insure the batteries are good and installed correctly, or use the AC adaptor.
2. If using the AC adaptor insure that the adaptor is plugged into a working AC outlet, or use a good set of batteries installed correctly.
3. Insure the ribbon cassette is installed correctly
4. Insure that the ribbon cassette has not run out. If all the ribbon is on the left take up reel then replace the ribbon
If there are still no characters on the paper your machine may need to be serviced

How can I get printer ribbons for this Brother ML 100 typewriter? Can you give me the code #?

The Brother ML100 uses the BRT 1030. There are several supplies available like the lift off tape, the daisy wheel and of course the printing cassette.

Try hitting [CODE] + [RESET] at the same time to reset the cartridge. Make sure the cassette is installed correctly.. the "ear" on the cassette should always be on the upper right.

Brother typewriter

make sure you power on the typewriter and space bar carrier until middle of bar. flip open cover and put ribbon in rear end first then push front to lock. i have to then turn orange knob on top of ribbon cassette in direction that arrow points just to tighten ribbon and that usually will lock the ribbon cartridge if it lock with first push. also, the ribbon itself goes in front of the 2 guides that stick up higher than the rest. hope this helps. if not you can look at brother website under that model and look at manual. it shows you how.

Not typing the correct letters

The ML-300 needs to be reset each time the Daisy Wheel is removed or replaced or if the Keyboard Switch changes position. According to Brother, if this is not done the typewriter will print incorrect characters. Try these steps: 1) Open the Top Cover. There is a lever directly behind the Daisy Wheel. Pull the lever back towards you. Remove the Daisy Wheel by pulling it up and out. 2) Verify that it is the Standard Daisy Wheel that came with your machine and not a Symbol or International Daisey Wheel. Write down the Pitch (10, 12, or dual pitch 1012) printed on the wheel. 3) Reinstall the Daisy Wheel (the plastic top ear goes to your right.) Push the lever (step 1) forward. 4) Press the ALT key plus the PITCH key and the number 1 key simultaneously. Verify the Pitch setting is the same as is printed on the Daisy Wheel. 5) Press the CODE key plus the RESET key and the letter Q key simultaneously. This will reset the typewriter mechanism and align (or time, in technical terms) the carriage mechanism. Check if the typewriter prints correctly now. If still incorrect, perform these additional steps. 6) Verify the three position Keyboard Switch (inside the top cover, on the right side, at the bottom) is in the I=Standard position. The other positions are: II=International and III=Symbol. 7) If the Keyboard Switch is in the correct position, slide it to position III and then back to I. (This will clean the switch contacts in case they are dirty and not making good electrical contact. 8) Press the CODE key plus the RESET key and the letter Q key combination again to reset the typewriter mechanism. Check if the typewriter prints correctly now. If still incorrect, the only other things I can think of is that: 1) an incorrect Daisy Wheel is installed that does not work in the ML-300. Brother sell a "B type" Daisy Wheel with two plastic ridges/raised slots below the center of the Daisy Wheel (viewed with the raised top tab on your left.) The B type are incompatible with your machine. 2) the typewriter has failed and needs repair.
