Question about Washing Machines

2 Answers

Washing machine does spin does not spin fast enough or sometimes at all to get water out of the clothes. If I manually spin the basket it around 3 or 4 times it seems to tighten up enough to get a poor quality spin at the end of the wash cycle. Is this a worn out belt?

May be not the solution but my 700lb has an intermittent wet clothes coming out the pump is clear as I watch the discharge. The onlt two controlls I can see that would be a problem are the drip dry control if it is not functioning correctly (need wiring Dia) or in the main control if the points are not making a clean contact and the timer is forcing it past this setting with no action taking place.
The pressure switch is always a problem but I dont beleive so in this case. The 700 is a good machine it is a shame to toss it for a small fault.

Brian

What causes the water not to spin out of the clothes?

Hi, it means that the machine is not spinning fast enough and pumping the water away. If its not spinning enough then you have to get the machine looked at as its not clicking on in the cycle for it to spin fast enough. You also have to have it set to wash cycle that has a fast spin. If it is spinning fast then you have to look at the pump to make sure its pumping the water away.

Kenmore 90 Series, clothes wet after spin

First thing you need to check is the speed of the spin cycle. As long as you are not overloading the machine, it should spin the clothes pretty dry. the basket drive may need to be replaced. If it is spinning very fast, then check the drain hose, make sure the water is coming out nice and fast. If not you may have a water pump problem even lint clogged inside it.

Kenmore washer

If your washer is not spinning fast enough, or barely spinning at all, this is usually a symptom of any one or all of the following: 1. Bad gearcase (transmission). 2. Bad basket drive, with which the transmission couples to under the agitator. 3. Bad clutch/brake assembly. Which mounts on top of the gearcase under the basket drive. Usually a tell tale sign of a gearcase beginning to fail is the sign of an amber colored oil coated under the washer or inside the casing. I said, "usually". It doesn't always happen, but if you notice any signs of oil, the gearcase is shot. The basket drive and clutch assemblies are harder to diagnose and require some disassembly of the washer and the removal of the gearcase to inspect. Let me know if this helps.
