Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Ink cartridge problems

I exchanged the black cartridge (57): the printer told me there was a problem with it, that I should remove it and re-insert it. I did, the ink button still blicks. After several efforts the printer started to work again, printed one document and then told me there was a problem with the colour cartridge. I removed it, re-inserted it several times. Finally a test page was printed - everything was okay.

Then the printer refused to print anything - the yellow LED lamp blicks continuously. Have turned the printer on and off, have also shut down the computer and re-started.

The only thing that will work now is the black cartridge, if I remove the colour one.

HELP!

Have replaced ink tanks for 3 colors. I keep getting an error message that reads "ink tanks have run out of ink or are running low. I have 2 options at the bottom of the message, OKAY or CANCEL PRINTING. These ink tanks have been replaced TWICE in the last TWO weeks and I continue to get the same message. What is the problem??? I have turned the printer off to see if it woul re-set, with no results. ALL ink tanks are FULL and there is nothing else that can be wrong, like a paper jam, etc. How do I get the printer to recogize it DOES have ALL ink tanks and ALL ink tanks are FULL? Thank you, Linda J. Geisz

I put a black cartridge #8 in the place of a #5 by mistake and now I can't get the cartridge out. What should I do?

I have a Canon MP530 and have exactly same problem described in
"Posted by hotshorse on May 08 2008" by Linda J Geisz.
Then I measured the PCB tabs on the individual ink tanks. With
positive lead on pin2, I get typically 800 ohms to other pins.
Now looking for a way to defeat this tank info -to- Canon MCU,
so that it will start working again. I do not want to buy another printer.

The black ink doesn't print. We have brother cartridges in our printer DCP 385C, and until recently it always told us when ink was running out. now it doesn't print the black ink at all and it doesn't tell...

Make sure the protective tape covering the new cartridge has been COMPLETELY removed then reinsert. Your printer should tell you that a new cartridge is inserted and ask to print a test page, align etc. Otherwise your cartridge may have a faulty chip which simply wont read.
In which case you need to return it and get a replacement.

HOw to install ink cartridge on HP Photosmart7760

Install the ink cartridges.
  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Lift the top cover.
  3. Open both ink cartridge cradle latches by pulling each latch forward and then up.
  4. Pull the pink pull-tab to remove the clear tape from each ink cartridge. Do not touch or remove the copper contacts.
  5. Insert the HP #57 tri-color ink cartridge in the left stall. Insert the HP #58 photo ink cartridge in the right stall.
  6. Close both ink cartridge cradle latches by pushing down on each latch until it snaps into place.
  7. Close the top cover and press the OK button to print a calibration page. This verifies that the print cartridges are installed correctly.

Dial says to remove cartridges and check. Have replaced cartridge

After cleaning cartridges and replacing refilled black ink, I removed blck ink and replaced with HP 58 photo ink. this aborted the "check cartridges freeze". I still cannot align cartridges after removing #58 and replacing with new HP 57. the operation starts but will not complete.

Any suggestions on how to align cartridges?

I have a HP 6656A Printer Cartridge that sometimes works good and other times will fail the power on check. Error message varies between Ink Cartridge not compatabile, Check Color Cartridge (even though...

I got hold of another set of 56 and 57 Ink cartridges. By swapping the four of them in and out of two printers, I determined that one of the Black 57 cartridges was bad and caused a missleading error message to pop up saying to check the Color 57 cartridge. I don't know why I was getting different messages at first, but after several swaps in and out of two printers, the error message finally became consistant and I learned that the one Black 56 cartridge was the faulty guy. One Color 57 cartridge printed good but the other (newer one) left streaks on the Cyan and Magenta colors even after soaking the head surface for a few minutes and cleaning it with inkjet cleaner fluid.
The end result is that I have one good Color 57 cartridge and one good Black 56 cartridge which work good in two different printers.

By the way, can you email a labled pinout reference drawing of the hp56, 57 & 58 Ink Cartridges???

Black ink not printing

Having had the same problem on my 425cn Brother with the black ink, I'm told that the solution is hot water. I goes something like this: remove cartridge, place in container with hot water for a while, remove allow to dry completely, replace, perform clean cycle and print test page. Apparently it's imperative to dry completely and stand cartridge upright. The warm water thins the ink, and remove (apparently) blockages. I cannot verify that this works, but will try it this weekend and let you know! If the housing that the ink cartridge can be readily removed, take that out and clean in warm water. Again dry very well before returning. Be care full that ink becomes runny and may leak out of cartridge and make a mess - so work carefully.

Misrepresented product?

No manufacturing process is flawless. These things happen. Return to staples for an exchange. Most managers will exchange ink even after the 14 days. If they dont, then buy new ones and recycle the nonworking ones for $3 on your rewards statement. I have seen people come back the same day after they bought a brand new HP ink cartrige beucase it does not work. Its not that they had the wrong cartridge, its just that it was a bad one.
