Glasses

use toothpaste rub a small amount on the scratched lens depending on how deep the scratch is rub the toothpaste over the scratch until the scratch is repaired.
Glass lenses are delicate and can be easily scratched.
These scratches mar vision beyond the lens, and can sometimes obstruct vision completely.
Prevention is the best method to keep glasses clear, but accidents can occur.
Luckily, there are several ways to quickly and inexpensively remove scratches from glass lenses.
These methods include using toothpaste, baking soda, windshield fluid and vehicle wax.
Apply a small amount of toothpaste on a soft, cotton cloth.
Rub the toothpaste onto the lens using small, circular motions.
Continue wiping for about 10 seconds and rinse with cold water.
For deep scratches, the method may need to be repeated.
Mix two parts baking soda with one part water to form a thick paste.
Use the cotton cloth to apply the paste to the lens, rubbing in a circular motion.
Rinse afterward and dry with a separate cloth.
Once again, this step may need to be repeated for stalwart scratches.
Apply a small amount of windshield fluid to a soft cloth, and polish the glass lens for several seconds.
This is more useful for light scratches, and is usually not effective against deep, prominent blemishes.
Use a clean cloth to buff vehicle wax onto the glass lens, once again moving in a circular motion, and continuing until the scratches have been removed.
Use several cloths, as the wax can adhere to the fabric, marring its performance.
Purchase an eyeglass polishing kit from a local optometrist.
These kits usually contain a polishing fluid and a soft cloth.
They are ideal for removing scratches from small glass lenses on glasses, cameras, telescopes and more.
They can be purchased for $10 to $20 and include easy-to-understand directions.

My curling iron has left a burn mark on my laminated bathroom vanity. How can I fix this?

No need to worry, as long as the burn mark is not too deep, this is a quick and easy fix.

Begin by wiping down the surface using a rag and soapy water. Next you will need to make a paste using baking soda and water (three parts baking soda to one part water) and apply over the burn mark. Allow this paste to sit for 20-30 minutes. Next you will need to use an old toothbrush and scrub the area until the mark has disappeared - you may need to apply more paste. Wash away the mess.

Since your vanity surface is laminate - as long as it is white - you can use plain white toothpaste instead of the baking soda/water mixture.

We have a Kenmore Elite refrigerator that smells like dead fish when the motor runs (we have never put fish in the refrigerator)- what is the problem and is it something that we can fix?

Sounds like water has gotten into the foam insulation or the unit was left closed for a period of time with no power (not running). You may want to try putting a box of baking soda inside the frig and freezer. Place the boxes to the back on one of the shelves as close to the fans as possible. If that doesn't work you may have to shut it down and leave the doors open for a week with baking soda still inside or 2 to 3 days with a fan forcing air into it constantly still with baking soda inside, of course the food inside would have to be removed.

How to remove unwanted scratches sunglasses? Brand

  • 1

Put on a pair of plastic gloves and smear a thick layer of Armour Etch etching compound on your sunglass lenses---the tops and the bottoms of the lenses. Leave the Armour Etch on the sunglasses for five minutes and then rinse it off under the faucet with cold water. You can find Armour Etch at any craft store. It is designed to be a fast acting etching compound and works great for getting rid of scratches.

  • 2

Spray lemon Pledge furniture polish directly on your lenses, both front and back. Rub it in with a rag. Wash the sunglasses with dish soap and water.

  • 3

Spray the liquid Band-Aid on the sunglass lenses being careful to wipe off any excess with a paper towel. Let the liquid dry and then wear your sunglasses.
Liquid Band-Aid is sold at pharmacies.

  • 4

Apply BRASSO furniture polish to your lenses and rub it in for three minutes. This product tackles the really stubborn scratches. Wash your lenses off with soap and water.

  • 5

Rub cigarette ashes in the scratches and then wash clean. You may have to do this more than once to completely get rid of the scratch.

Use toothpaste. Apply a small amount of toothpaste on the lenses. Use a soft, cotton cloth to rub the toothpaste into the lenses. Use a small circular motion. The toothpaste will act as a filler and fill in the gap created by the scratch. Continue applying a circular motion for 10 seconds and rinse with lukewarm water. If the scratch is deep or stubborn, you might have to repeat the process.

  • 2

Use baking soda to remove scratches on your sunglasses. Mix 1 part water to 2 parts baking soda to create a creamy paste. Use the cotton cloth to distribute the paste onto the scratched lens. Use a circular motion to rub the baking soda paste into the lens. Rinse with lukewarm water. More stubborn scratches warrant a second application.

  • 3

Use windshield fluid. The windshield fluid will polish off the scratches. Apply a small amount of windshield fluid onto a cotton cloth. Polish the sunglasses with the cotton cloth for several seconds. This method is especially effective against smaller scratches but may not remove prominent blemishes.

  • 4

Use vehicle wax. The lipids in the wax will fill in the scratches. Apply a small amount of vehicle wax onto the cotton cloth. Apply the cotton cloth into the offensive scratch. Keep using a circular motion until the scratch is removed. You may need to use several cloths, as the wax can adhere to the fabric, subsequently marring its performance.

Use an eyeglass polishing kit, which usually contain a soft cloth and polishing liquid. These kits are great to use on your glasses, telescopes and camera lenses, and can be purchased from your local drugstore or optometrist's office. The kit cost $10 to $20 in 2010.

Small scratches and one burn spot

I'm sorry to hear someone marred this beautiful sink on you. This is essentially an acrylic sink, the same material used to make acrylic soaker tubs. Using any type of abrasive cleaner on this sink is going to dull the finish. This includes baking soda. The liquid auto polish referred to is essentially car wax not an abrasive polish. The car wax contains carnuba wax that will return a lustre to the finish but unlikely to remove the damage you've described. The manufacturer recommends using only non abrasive cleansers. There won't be anything you can do about the burn mark, this is going to be permanent. It could be from heat or possibly something caustic. If the gray scratches in the other sink look like they are on the surface of the acrylic you may be able to get them off. If it looks like the gray is underneath the acrylic finish then you will need to contact Thermocast for an acrylic repair kit for the color of your sink. Hopefully they are able to provide such an accessory. Use a plastic pan scraper and see if you can scratch the gray off the surface. The plastic is softer than the acrylic and will not scratch it. Thermocasts customer service line is 678-445-2022 or email them at sales_support@thermocastsinks.com . Their website is http://www.thermocastsinks.com/index.html

My Europro shark steam mop won't steam, light on but no steam.

Hard water deposits. I ran some white vinegar through mine, like a coffee maker, and it worked for a while, but clogged again. So I unplugged it, let it cool and turned it over in the bathtub and squirted a small amount of Lime-Away into the hole where the steam comes out. Let it soak for 5- 10 minutes and it is working like is is brand new.
