Question about Lowrance GPS

I believe I'm correct in saying that the LSS-1 for side and down scanning will only work on the HD systems.

Hi,

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

goodluck!

the manual is here

I had this unit but gave it away recently. From memory, you just need to connect the transducer and make sure the transducer is in water. If not, it reverts to Demo Mode.

This is what the manual says:

The StructureScan transducer can be mounted on the transom,

jackplate, step or directly to your boat's hull.

When mounting it directly to the hull, you must purchase a high-

quality, marine grade above- or below-waterline sealant/adhesive

compound.

when I bought my LSS I was told this was normal but now that we're in summer it hasn't made much noise. That said; if it's excessive it could be loose mounting of the air pump(rattle) or pump bearing(squealing).

First of all, try using a different monitor cable. If the problem is still present, make sure that your monitor's image is correctly adjusted. Most monitors provide an 'auto adjust' function. This page can help you find out whether your monitor's clock and phase are correctly adjusted:

http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/clock_phase.php

It also provides different test images that can help you with locating your problem.

Hope is helps, cheers.

If you know someone that will let you try your unit on their hookup (same type unit) you may be able to isolate the problem to know if it is in the transducer or the unit. If you have the same results with a different hookup, then you would need to return your unit to our factory for a service check. If a different transducer corrects the problem, please contact me at the following email address and I can replace your transducer for you. sbates@johnsonoutdoors.com

Hi Greg and Ernesto:

Re-stating the obvious, your transducer is not working but you know that the sounder is.

I would start by checking to see if your transducer works on a different sounder. That's just a double check to confirm that it really is not working.

Then I'd try to isolate the problem:

- Plug (couold be corroded or damaged)

- wire (could be broken)

- Transducer (could be defective)

Since these are sealed units, I'd be checking with the supplier to try to find a replacement. Hopefully they are not too expensive, and time spent fishing is better than trying to maybe save a few dollars, especially if you're taking out charters.

Best of luck.
