Lights dim, moaning from AC, just before it trips breaker? Have you checked incoming voltage? What type of plug are you hooked up to, 30, or 50 amp?

I'd be looking at replacing the compressor start capacitor. The capacitor supplies a high voltage "Kick start" to get compressor going. If you give me your model number off bottom of upper (roof) unit, I can get you a part number. Be Real Careful with capacitors, they can give a real dangerous, if not fatal shock of 300-400 volts, even when power is turned off !! If not experienced in that area, get back to me for instructions, or ask someone who is experienced to perform the job. New Capacitors run,$20-$40. and take about 20-30 min to change.

What is causing breaker to trip? Compressor runs fine until tank pressure is built up but it trips the breaker at high pressure shut off.

Never try to fool a security breaker. You could damage the compressor, if something is wrong. It could over heat and burn out. Try to fine what is wrong or if you don't mind to buy a new one, kill it with a 30 Amp circuit breaker.

What causes caravan aircon to trip circuit breaker on start up

My first guess would be that the compressor has seized. If not the compressor seizing, then I would look for a short to ground in the wiring. If you pull the cover of the AC you will most likely find that the compressor motor is plugged into a receptacle. If you can unplug or otherwise disconnect the compressor motor from its' power source and activate the thermostat to run and the circuit breaker does not trip, it is the compressor motor. If the circuit breaker trips, then it's in the wiring.

Circuit breaker trips after water supply cycle

check the condensor fan in the compressor area and make sure its running if not the compressor will overheat causing high head pressures on the compressor causing it to draw too much current to operate the compressor and kick the breaker out, also make sure the condenser coils there are clean and it has ample air movement away from the wall

not likely as your pressure switch is pneumatic, What else operates on that same breaker, perhaps replace the breaker as they sometimes get "tired"

hope this helps

Have you noticed what the outdoor temperature is when this unit is tripping the breaker? Does it seem to be at a higher outdoor temperature or at all outdoor temperatures day and night?
Did they check the run capacitor to see if it's good and the proper microfarads?
Did they check to see if the breaker trips when it's starting up or after it has been running awhile.
If it's tripping on start up then it's possible the next step is the compressor replacement.
If it's tripping after running awhile then it could be dirty indoor coil or filters, blower not running at full speed, low voltage, loose wire connection, points burnt on contactor and even a weak run capacitor.

First, the simple answer - check the AMP draw on the compressor. It should be on the motor or compressor nameplate/tag. Even a small compressor can use alot of power, and blow the breaker if there are other things on a circuit.

Does it seem to run OK for as long as it runs?

Ruud heat pump outside unit trips circuit breaker

Check your wiring between the contactor and compressor for a short to ground, or check the compressor windings for short to ground.
With the Tstat off, the contactor should be open so the only way for the compressor to be trying to do anything is if the 110 volts from the unbroken side are traveling through the compressor to ground. Since 110v is not enough to run it, the overload is kicking it out, cooling off, and repeating the cycle. When you kick on the Tstat, the contactor is supplying voltage directly to ground without going through the resistence of the compressor windings and kicking the breaker.
Post back and let me know what you find.
