Question about Seiko Diver's Watch

1 Answer

Ive had my Seiko automatic titanium scuba 200m about 3 years when i got it, i had it sized down by taking out 3 links which the store gave me back and 3 pins that go with , ive put on a few pounds maxed out clasp adjustment and want to put in one link , so when i popped out the pin to add the new link there is a small barrel that slides onto and snugs together inside the link , it resembles an empty barbell weight lifters use , the store didnt give me those barrels , is there a way to fix this ?

Thanks for contacting FixYa.
Seiko normally will send out up to 5 extra links on new watches. I am not sure on watches that are 3 years old but you will need to contact Seiko on this one. MAYBE a watchmaker locally will have some extra peices that will work too.
You can contact Seiko here:

Check your four digit-caliber number on the watch back.  Then go to this Seiko link for full information in PDFform for your watch.

This is quicker and easier than trying to pull excerpts from the manual.  I hope this helps you.  Thanks.

Hi.ive own a 70s seiko diver 6309-7040 an problem is now the watch is not keeping time (slow at least 5mns a day)can i do DIY adjustment on it..pls helpguide..thanks.

As thesed watches are sealed it is unwise to attempt any DIY activity.

As you have had the watch for many years it is very likely that it needs a clean. As it is so old, some parts may need replacing and this can only be doneby the maker. (Most makers recommend cleaning every 3 years or so).

If it is only just starting to loose time, then you have done very well out of it!

Can I use an ordinary button cell in a seiko kinetic

I have been trained by a Master watch maker and I have worked on many Seiko Kinetic watches. Yes the original watches came with a capacitor that is charged by your arm movement. But unfortunately, they seem to only last a few years. All replacements are now done with a Lithium Ion battery that is much better and lasts longer than the original capacitor. This is the correct solution and don't try to use a battery type that is used in other quartz watches.

Hi mtrahan99. My advice is to take it back and get it replaced, particularly if you have only had it a few days. If they won't exchange it or refund you, get a repair under the guarantee. Automatic watches (and Seiko actually make some very good ones) don't need to be worn all the time to wind them, and the fact that it ran so fast and has now stopped would indicate something major like problems with the mainspring. Return it! Hope this helps; Eagle58

Need to remove winder on mens seiko titanium so i can remove the

Ensure crown is in neutral position i.e. pressed home (not in set hands posn.) Remove back and adjacent to the winding stem on the movement there should be a small button (may be indicated with an arrow) depress this gently whilst withdrawing the crown and stem from the watch. Ensure you don't engage to set hands position in the process. You might also find a couple of screws securing the movement into the case. P.S. Usually don't need to remove from case to replace battery.

For sure it is time to replace that old capacitor and replace it with the latest solution that uses a Lithium Ion battery. Find a good experienced repair person to do this for you. I do this daily and I am a Certified Master Horologist/watch repairman.. Ron at TimelyWatchRepair.com
