Question about Dewalt Chop Saw D28700

1 Answer

My Dewalt chopsaw is about 10 years old, and quit working. So I Took the brushes out and put them back in. It worked for a day, then it would hesitate, then it died. I tried new generic brushes, but the new springs were smaller in diameter and hard to get in and it would not start. Coincedents or or for sure the brushes.

If you can get your hands on a continuity tester, do a continuity check from the plug through the flex ,the switch, armature and back to the plug .It should be possible by a process of elimination to discover where the break is in the circuit.
It might be simply that there is a break in the cable where it exits the mains plug or where it enters the chop saw

I had a power outage. control board is blinking 1 blue light on the freezer side. Bulb works inside. nothing works

Lilly Spence... hello,

There is several quite obscure "things" that could have happened to your refrigerator...

Presuming OWNERS MANUAL "RESET" failed.

I can only talk in GLOBAL/TYPICAL terms without your make & model number... If you don't mind spending a wad of money and learning nothing in the process... you need only find a competent repair person... they will pluck off the bottom grill ... pop out the "black box" with your PCB (printed circuit board)... here-in-after
we will call that your "power control board" and either find that bad solder joint... or discover the board resident relay or transformer DID NOT SURVIVE...

On my refrigerator 22 year old AMANA (which I love) that part has become quite rare (just because of time... but there are repair services that can refurbish OLD packs (10 days end to end & $100 - $200 later)

BUT THE NEWER, SMARTER... high end refrigerators
have a real "Power CONTROL BOARD" typically under the frig (above the defrost tray... It is, in fact, one of the EASIEST replacement parts to perform on the REFRIGERATORS...
of today.

On my refrigerator 22 year old AMANA (SBDE20S4SW which I love) that part has become quite rare (just because of time... but there are repair services that can refurbish OLD packs (10 days end to end & $100 - $200 later)... I fund one on eBay ... $195.

CIRCUIT BOARD 12106802: Replacement fiasco:

- Wiggled out the defrost tray (took pictures with my camera)

- Unplugged the door (control panel) wires from front (took pictures with my camera)

- Took out the one ***** hold box up... and slid it (wires & all) out to work on.

- Removed one top ***** & removed box cover (a lot of wires = lots more USABLE pictures!!)

- Changed the board... (TURNED CIRCUIT BREAKER ON) worked fine...!!

- Found my bad solder joint repaired/replaced it ... (TURNED CIRCUIT BREAKER OFF/ON)

- Put old board back in...
(control lights flashing... refrigerator NOT working).

- Took CLOSE look at pictures (found red/white transformer CONNECTORs EXACTLY WRONG... (fixed)

(BREAKER ON)... Works great!

Have spare (12106802 PCB)... Plan on keeping it forever.
Story moral: $195 later (I didn't need to spend)...
Happy happy happy.

You can make yourself prouder.

The "BREAKER" ... I never recommend touching ANY electronics without STATIC (ESD) protection.
A tiny (teeniest) static discharge around the MOST ROBUST electronics can destroy it... If the breaker is off... the refrigerator is still plugged in.. ergo FULLY GROUNDED... The likelihood of static discharge is quite remote... Just remember to ground your hand(s) to the refrigerator (always) before touching any electronics there-in.

Same reason all electronics are shipped in (silverized or PINK static) bags...

So get that MAKE & MODEL... check the sites below...
Any questions comment me back... I shall return
(my baby is having her 50th) needs sympathy too.

I have a Dewalt 625e type 2 router which just quit working. I replaced the switch and the PC board but it still doesn't run.

Check both brushes. Some DeWalt brushes have a spring loaded plastic pin built into them so when it wears down the pin pops out and prevents damage to the armature. Other brushes have a copper wire that, when the brush wears to a certan point, it will no longer touch the armature again preventing damage to the armature.

I purchased brushes for my 12 volt dewalt drill yesterday at the Dewalt warranty store in Denver. Today I took the housing off the drill and it does not have the same type of brushes in it as the...

Brushes over time will wear down so comparing from the old to new will not look the same. If 18V brushes fit into the your drill then it should be fine.

My Dewalt chopsaw is loosing power and sparks heavy in brushes

I worked at a tool rental center while attending college and learned to repair tools such as yours. Damage to the armature occurs mostly during low power situations or overloading the motor. The damage is usually visable. Notice burned looking copper windings or commutator bars. You can test with growler or meter. We would turn the commutator on an armature lathe to true the surface of the bars. If the commutator is not perfectly round the brushes will bounce thus cause the sparking that you see. Also you must clean the groves between the bars with a blade to clean out all metal filings that can cause short between bars. (Broken hacksaw blade ground to fit the groves will work fine)Sanding with sandpaper may not be perfect enough to stop sparking assuming the armature is not shorted. Moisture will not effect the brushes, and sanding them square is ok but you can put the curve back by cutting fine sandpaper into strip and wraping it around commutator and insert brush into holder against sandpaper. Not necessary thou because all new brushes are square. New brushes however will increase the tension of the brush against the commutator preventing bounce due to new spring and longer carbon. Good luck enjoy
