Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Technics SL-QD33 turntable that will play all songs on an album but only for about 7 seconds, then ejects. I've initially replaced the stylus due to previous damage which I thought would resolve the problem. Thank You for your help in trying to come to a solution to my problem. Thad Marud

If you meant that the arm rests for only 7 seconds before it comes back, then it is possible that there is some error on the speed or the mechanism that make it detecct and error or wrong seting to reset.
If with the strobe control then therer can be variation of the detection or the drop of servo speed of the turntable.
Also check if the set was not used for some time any linkage that is not fallingin line. Check the drive, the movement of the arms, clean , lubricate slightly and test.
DO this and comment.

How do i connect technics turntable model SL-QD33 to technics stereo model SC-DV290 and what do i need to switch to on stereo to play records.

Have a look on the back input panel of the sc-dv290. Check for a "PHONO" input. If there is no phono input it will not play turntable. If there is: then plug it the turntable in and switch the SC-DV290 to PHONO mode.
Another way would be to purchase a "phono preamplifier" from ebay: Hook the turntable into the phono preamplifier, and the preamplifer into the SC-DV290 AUX input.

I just purchases a Technics 1200 turntable for $70.00. I have found a problem, at the end of the album, the arm does not auto return, but just stays on the album. Could this be a simple problem,...

First off, Congratulations on such a excellent deal! That's a $500.00 turntable. I know I own a pair and I've been a DJ for 18 years.

Second, the Technics 1200 does not have an auto return. You have to pick up the needle and bring it back manually.

Try some anti-static record cleaner. You can also get an anti-static matt to put the records on.

All my vinyl sounds warped on turntable

Most common problem is the belt getting soft, especially if it has sat for a long time. It will get a weak spot where it sat on the drive pulley and every time the turntable goes around and hits that weak spot it will slow down a little making it sound like a warped album.

The belts are usually very easy to replace. Usually just lift off the turntable or there might be a small clip on the center pin, then it lifts off. Replacement belts can be ordered from several places, as shown in this search... http://www.google.com/search?&q=SL-B200+Technics+turntable+belt

Turntable grinds to a halt.

The Technics SL-BD22 is a belt driven turntable. It is most likely possible that the belt wore off, wore down, or could have spun off. The platter should have 2 holes in it. One of them should alow you to see, and replace the belt. YOu can lift the platter off the turntable via those two holes. MAKE SURE IT IS TURNED OFF AND UNPLUGGED......

You can find a replacement @

http://1200s.com/Store/PARTS-TECHNICS-TURNTABLES-Drive_Belts/c271_272_278_398/index.html

And the part should come with instructions. Those guys are very thorough.

Keep me posted.
