We can do your system restore but tell me about the fps problem first . No sense having you do a retore if you don't have to. If we can't get you fixed right up I'll be happy to help you with the restore. It's amazing how much angst these little things can cause ti humans! Hang in there, we'll beat it. Let me know about the fps. Thanks.

I have a lenovo Y5100 which i bought 3 yrs back.. the problem i am facing is that post formatting the computer last month i tried to upload the vista recovery disk. This works fine but only for a month....

Welcome to Fixya

Try to restore the computer back to factory state instead of using the RCD. Turn off the computer then push the small button located beside the power button. The screen should show you the One key recovery. Select one key racovery then select restore from initial backup.

Thank you for using Fixya!

I get this problem and can't get past it help please Unmountable_boot_volume its a problem with the recovery system a blue screen for dell inspiron 2650

I sure hope you kept a recent backup. Something has gone terribly wrong in there. If you didn't keep a recent backup, do you still have the Windows setup disk(s), or the Recovery disk? It sounds like you will need to do one of those. STRONG ADVICE_ DO NOT start to run a Recovery or Resoration disk NOR a backup and then stop it part-way done! I did that recently, and it took me 3 months to find a solution. It deletes all your partitions. Then nothing will work without much research and work. Once you start a recovery from a disk or a backup, let it finish! It may take awhile, but it's worth it. Don't panic. Just do a backup restore or a restoration disk, and any lost data, will be lost. People call using the Restoration CD a "reformat". It gives you a fresh install of Windows. Try to always keep a recent full partitions backup, it's worth it's weight in gold. Feel for you!

Hi all. I need to reset my acer travelmate 2451 back to factory settings as it is now very slow (no recovery disc) any idears Mike

Hi,

You could try to do a system restore to a date near to purchase. It is normally under start --> accessories --> system tools. Backup all your data before doing a system restore!!

Cheers

When doing a system restore the computer will sit there for a will on the same percentage of progress completed for some time, that is normal, as long as there is activity on the hard drive light every now and then and the blinking of the light changes intensity and rythym everything will be fine and it will progress in percentage eventually, make sure the recovery cd is clean from dust and grime using a soft cloth cleaning cd from inside to outside from inner to outer not in a circular motion, give it some time to progress.
