Did you mean that the TV is connected to the digital box or to the DTH.
If the digital box is using the video/audio signals to connect to the AV of the TV and you are having a blank the fault can be the video/audio signal amplifiers or the A/D convertor.
Please give some more inputs to the problem.
If using an RF input , then the tuner can be defective.

From your description you are getting some kind of display but no picture. What you need to do is change the input source. This tells the tv where to look for a incoming signal. If it is expecting a cable signal it looks for the signal on a differant connector than the one the antenna will be connected to. You will also have to scan so the tv's senses what channels it is seeing. So set the source first if its not set to the tight one then do a scan and you should be up and running.

You haven't given make or model so generally these are found under the menu button and then setup. This is usually the first few pages of the user manual.

Do you get something on the screen when the tv is set to receive an analogue signal - either from an antenna or from a player? If not then the tuner is faulty and must be replaced

Posted on Aug 31, 2010

  • Azrael SRL Aug 31, 2010

Connect a regular antenna to the tv and go to the Programming section of the Menu and select Scan - the analogue scan will begin . If no channels are detected then you can try something else - connect an old vcr to the tv using the antenna connection (from the antenna out on the player to the antenna in on the tv) If even this way the image from the player isn't detected then the tuner is dead - replace it
BTW this is a quite delicate job, it involves careful desoldering and soldering, if you aren't absolutely sure you can do it without damaging other components then  call someone who can.

We have an antenna, digital converter box, and digital tv. Can only get 5 channels. No nbc, abc, cbs. Get the message indicator available for digital broadcasting only

You should be able to use the box remote and select channel search mode. As it searches, you will see it "hit" available channels and store them. When channel search is finished, you should see a picture displayed. if no results, there is something wrong with the antenna, the way it is connected to the box, the way the box is connected to the TV, or the way the TV is connected to the box. You may have to reread the instructions to find what is at fault.

Trying to convert from cable to antenna...I get no signal and it seemingly goes into sleep mode

Consult your TV's owner manual and enter "set up mode" to switch the RF or Antenna input from: CATV / Cable to: Antenna / Off Air. Then, allow the TV to scan VHF & UHF for signals strong enough to "tune in". You may need to upgrade your antenna in order to collect enough signal to display video properly. Make sure that your TV has a digital tuner (ATSC) as the old analog tuners (NTSC) have no signal to tune since broadcasters were forced to digital transmitters by the FCC years ago.

Use the site linked below to help you select an antenna that will allow you to receive all signals possible at your location - without buying more antenna than you need.

How to tune channels first time when you purchase a new Sony Kdl 32EX600 LED tv?

Hello
Do connection to the antena if you wants to set the TV auto tuned.
During this initial setup, you can perform the following:

1 Select the language for the on-screen display text.
2 Select HOME or Retail mode. [Here you have to select "Home" mode if the set displays "Retail"

3 Connect cable or antenna, then select OK to run Auto
Program

• If you have cable and antenna available, please connect cable first.

• IMPORTANT: Auto Program is only effective when cable or

antenna is connected. If you cancel Auto Program before completion some channels may not be
available.

4 Auto Program will scan for available channels from the signal source directly connected to

the TV's CABLE/ANTENNA input and may take sometime to complete the process. Follow
the help text provided on the screen to run Auto Program.
OK.

Hi there,

I believe you have probably selected the wrong TV mode. It seems that you have set the TV to analog mode. It is common for the digital tuning option to be greyed out in analog mode and only becomes available in digital mode. Look for a button on your Sharp remote labelled "DTV" or "DIGITAL" and press this, then open the menu and try the digital setup again. If you don't have one of these buttons, look for a button labelled "INPUT" or "SOURCE" and look for an input or mode called digital or DTV.

I will check on the exact method for your TV and post back with the details shortly.

Regards,
BElectric.

Just in case, here's the 108-page user's manual for your TV:
http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/pdf/MIT_WD-52525_WD-62525_WD-52725_WD-62725_Manual.pdf

Yor "NetCommand" TV remote is a wondrous thing, capable of throwing off anyone.

When the 'Device Selection Menu" is dispayed, and only when the device icon is highlighted,
does the key work, and it also only works when the remote is in "A/V Receiver" mode -
not in "CABLE or DBS" mode, nor "VCR" mode, nor "DVD" mode.
So, (1) set the NetCommand remote to "A/V Receiver" mode
(2) bring up the Device Selection Menu, using the key on the remote
(3) highlight the Satellite receiver input icon (highlighted with a Yellow outline)
(4) press GUIDE on the remote, to swap the analog digital setting.

Also displays ChannelView for Antenna 1 and Antenna 2 - you may have accidentally
set the TV to get its input from the wrong Antenna.

If your TV has lost memory of its DBS source, you may have to re-teach the TV (using the remote)
that the DBS (Digital Broadcast Satellite) input exists, and to which input its connected.
Refer to "Edit NetCommand, Add an A/V Receiver", pages 39-45 of your Owner's Manual.

Antenna?? If you connected an antenna to the TV, you can only picking up radio waves. In the TV's menu options you should have a connection selection to choose from "Cable" or "Air". With an antenna, Air needs to be selected. Go through your "Input" selector from tv remote and select "TV" which is always the first selection. If this does not help, let us know exactly what is connected to the tv whether it be a COAX cable alone, a coax connected to an antenna, or if you have rabbit ears connected.
