Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My receiver is on, and everything is properly connected. However, I can only very faintly hear what is playing on the radio, through the CD player, or the record player- even when the volume is all the way up. There is also a ton of static. Any idea what I can do?

The most common cause of this is the tape monitor switch. Make sure that this switch is off. If it is of, then the next likely problem would be in the power supply. If you can post the make and model, I may be able to provide more details.

Thanks,
Dan

It's a Pioneer SX- 535. Also I should say that when this problem first started happening, I could kind of fix it by jiggling the speaker wires, but now it is just consistently quiet and fuzzy. From what I've been reading, it sounds like maybe a problem with the amplification in the receiver, but could it be a problem with the speakers?

Also, it's not the tape moniter switch- I just checked. When I turned them on, it made the sound go out completely.

My Sony CDX-M610 will play radio but not CDs

THE CDX-M610 LIKE ALL OF THE CDX-M630, M800, M850MP SHOULD ALL SIMPLY START TO PLAY THE CD WHEN INSERTED. BECAUSE YOU ARE ABLE TO TUNE RADIO STATIONS AND HEAR THEM PLAY SHOWS THAT YOU HAVE EVERYTHING IN PLACE AND ARE DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT. SO IF IT IS NOT PLAYING, THEN IT WILL NEED TO BE SERVICED. AS FOR THE REMOTE, IT IS NOT REQUIRED OF ANY OF THE CD PLAYERS IN ORDER TO PLAY CD OR TUNE RADIO STATIONS. RATHER THAN INVEST IN REPAIRING, I WOULD LOOK FOR ANOTHER MODEL ON EBAY USED AS IT WILL PROBABLY GO PRETTY CHEAP. ALSO HAVE CHANCE TO GET A HIGHER MODEL LIKE THE ONES I MENTIONED ABOVE. I HAVE SEVERAL OF EACH IN MY COLLECTION AND THERE ARE NICE PLAYERS. OK. HOPE THIS HELPS.....V

Trying to hook up speakers to Pyle Pro PD1000 stereo receiver w/built-in DVD/CD player. I believe that I have speaker wires hooked up correctly but when I play CD no sound. I can actually hearing sounds...

Hi,
I went thru user manual..there is no special way of wiring speakers..
pls check carefully the speaker connections again and the "speaker selector" too..
what about "MUTE" button ? it should be "OFF" ...
and try to test it on FM radio first ..
just in case ,if you need the soft USER MANUAL pls visit the URL below..

Cassette player doesnt play or record, ff or rewind. CD player, AM/FM radio works fine.

Hi.
If you hear a faint whirring sound from the cassette player while performing these functions, the motor is fine, but you require a new drive belt/s that need to be fitted at an electronics shop. If you hear not sound at all, the motor has died (possibly belts too), again it will require and electrinics repair shop visit.
For the sake of repairing it, it maybe cheaper to buy a new one.

check the wiring to the speakers in the doors, sometimes, the wireharness for the car is not your best friend.

There's possibly some leakage internally.

Do you have a normal (Playback only) CD player on the MD/CD-R input? It's supposed to support a RECORDING device as you can see by the OUT (REC) connections. A recorder would have shielded cables there and maybe the circuitry is such that ungrounded/unshielded output to the recorder allows a leak of the FM, which is developed inside the receiver.

Since you know that FM is leaking why don't you just selct some other idle source before selecting MD/CD-R? Have you also heard, say, the DVD, if it is playing when you select MD/CD-R?

Or skip the analog route entirelzy and run digital cables from your CD player to one of the Digital Inputs, if you have a spare one. They're all functionally the same. I guarantee the FM won't get in that way.

Try looking for the reset button usually a little pin button like the ones on digital wrist watches hard to notice. If this is a home stereo are you sure the tape monitor button isn't on?

INTERMITTENT POWER PROBLEMS

Sounds like you have intermittent contact between the constant 12v and the ACC 12v power inputs. Remove the head unit, and make sure that the connections are properly insulated. (using inline **** connectors preferably)
